The National Deworming Day is the program recommended by World Health Organization to deworm
children twice a year when the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthes infections in the community is
reported over 50%.To continue reduction in transmission of Helminthes Infection in children age group of 1-19
years, we will be celebrating NDD Second round from 22nd August 2024 (Thursday) in fixed day approach
through Schools and ICDS Platform (Anganwadi centres) followed by Mop Up round on 29th August 2024 as
per the existing NDD Operational guidelines.
Vitamin A deficiency is a public health problem (prevalence of blindness is 1% or higher in children 24–59
months of age). Where the prevalence of vitamin A deficiency (serum retinol 0.70 µmol/l lower) is 20% or
higher in infants children 6–59 months of age and for this high-dose vitamin A supplementation is
recommended. This year from 1st August 2024 to 30th September 2024 will be conducting Vitamin A round.
As per above, all the Districts & Corporations have to ensure adequate stock of Tab. Albendazole &
Syp. Vitamin A to reach end users. In view of schools and Anganwadi centres survey and distribution of Tab.
Albendazole and Syp. Vitamin A by Front line workers (ASHA, ANM & AWWs) may be planned in schools. we
may provide Tab. Albendazole in school under the monitoring and supervision of Nodal Teacher in schools.
Moreover, some of the specific strategies have been planned and need to follow as per the below mentioned
key points to ensure 100% coverage.
1. During NDD week THOs & RBSK team will ensure that Anganwadi workers and ASHAs should have line
list of 1-19 years children residing in their respective areas and adequate stock of drugs are available with
them. Anganwadi worker will cover 1 to 5 years of children (School going and non-school going), ASHAs
will cover 6 to 19 years children & monitoring of both will be done by ANM.
2. Digital platforms & social media can be utilized for IEC purpose to increase coverage & 12.1.2.6 budget
line can be utilized for Printing of IEC materials and reporting formats etc. for NDD.
3. District level officials have to ensure that Infection Control protocols need to be monitored and no
4. IPC protocols including WASH components like hand hygiene practices to be followed.
5. Capacity building of officials at District and Corporations level may be done through organizing webinar.
6. Adverse event management to be followed and to be reported to nearby healthcare facility, if any
reported. Also share the report in physical format shared herewith to the State.
