iii) State two differences between the air that goes into the structure and that
which goes out of the structure. (02 marks)
Air that goes in Air that goes out

4) The following data was obtained by a student while determining the percentage
of humus in a given soil sample.
Weight of the crucible= 100g
Weight of the crucible containing fresh soil= 156g
Constant weight of the crucible containing soil after heating at 105oC= 143g
Constant weight of the crucible containing soil after heating to redness= 128g
Calculate;
(i) weight of the fresh Soil. (01 mark)

mks)
(b) Explain the economic importance of anaerobic respiration (04mks)
(c) Under which conditions do organisms use anaerobic respiration? (03mks)
(d) How is the energy obtained from respiration used by the body? (04mks)

8. Excretion is a crucial process in organisms. In human beings it leads to the

formation of urine which comprises of both nitrogenous and non-nitrogenous
materials. The process of urine formation has two main processes i.e. ultra-
filtration and selective re absorption
(a) Describe the process of ultra-filtration (04mks)
(b) What is the main reason for selective reabsorption (02mks)
(c) Ultra-filtration leads to the formation of the renal filtrate (glomerular filtrate)
which contains many molecules. Some of these molecules are taken back to blood
while some are excreted in urine.
