Government Diploma in Interior Designing & Decoration
(ID) & (IN) programmes

Interior Design:
Interior Design pedagogy is an integral knowledge that deals designing of
Interior Built Spaces. It is the art and science that deals with space planning
within the building with appropriate synergy to cater to the purpose,
anthropometrics, ergonomics, aesthetics, balance between natural and
artificial resources etc. to suit the user. Such Space planning may relate to a
small residential space to a villa, a shop to a department store, individual’s
office to a multinational company, a café to a specialty restaurant, a reception
area to a star hotel lobby.

Course Preamble

L.S. Raheja School of Architecture’s Interior Design Department is affiliated to the


Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) for conducting Govt.
Diploma in Interior Designing and Decoration course for the past 35 years. The
college offers 2 years Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Designing and
Decoration (ID) and 3 years Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Designing and
Decoration (IN). The college is one of the oldest Interior Design course
conductors in the Mumbai Metropolis and it has always played an important
role to work hand in hand with MSBTE for formulating and revising the syllabi to
suite the emerging demands of the Interior Design profession. The college is
instrumental in only conducting the course as per the syllabi set by the MSBTE
and the yearly examinations are conducted by MSBTE. On successful
completion of the course the students are conferred with the Diploma by MSBTE.
Abiding to this format the college has been a trend setter and has established
high standards in the Interior Design Education for its contemporaries to follow.
The college is proud to have the largest approved student intake in Govt.
Diploma in Interior Designing and Decoration course in Mumbai. The course
seekers through rigorous training have been receiving Diploma, but their
demands in the industry have made them enterprising entrepreneurs. The
institute undoubtedly thrives to and leaves no scope of comparison to impart
best education in all its various Interior Design Courses.

Scope
Interior Design education with experience and further education may lead to
many other allied career options like project management, product design, set
design, 3d visualizer, vastu consultant, interior photography, media, graphic
design, visual merchandising, HVAC consultant, lighting consultant, etc.

Working for eminent Interior Designing firm and developing a self-distinguished
niche is possible after completing this course. The Interior Design profession has a
huge potential for becoming an entrepreneur and setting up own practice. The
students intending to perceive this education, without any hesitation should look
up to Interior Design as a long lasting enterprising career option.

Format of the Govt. Diploma Courses:


The MSBTE affiliated Govt. Diploma in Courses are operated in 2 formats

1) 2 Year Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (ID) – The
course is conducted for 30 hours / week, with total 32 mandatory academic
weeks. These 32 weeks are divided with a mid-term winter break after the initial
16 academic weeks. The students along with the regular sessional assignments
have to mandatory appear for 2 class tests in each subject. At the end of the
academic year the students have to appear for the examination conducted by
MSBTE. The students after the completion of the 1st academic year in the
summer break have to compulsory undergo professional training by working in
Interior Designing firm for a period of min. 45 days.
Course Timings:
Monday to Friday
07:30 am to 02:00 pm. (Inclusive 1/2 hr. break on each day)

2) 3 Year Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (IN) – The
course is conducted for 20 hours / week, with total 32 mandatory academic
weeks. These 32 weeks are divided with a mid-term winter break after the initial
16 academic weeks. The students along with the regular sessional assignments
have to mandatory appear for 2 class tests in each subject. At the end of the
academic year the students have to appear for the examination conducted by
MSBTE. The students after the completion of the 2nd academic year in the
summer break have to compulsory undergo professional training by working in
Interior Designing firm for a period of min. 45 days.
Course Timings:
Monday to Friday
02:30 pm to 07:00 pm. (Inclusive 1/2 hr. break on each day)

Note:- Course timings and no. of days may differ with respect to the current situation, though
every care shall be taken to make it suitable and safe to the students.

Admission Eligibility for (ID) and (IN) programmes:
Secondary School Certificate (SSC) / Xth passed of New course with
Mathematics as compulsory subject from Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or equivalent board. Or
Candidates should have passed qualified examination from other
recognized examination authorities out of Maharashtra State or Out of India
shall obtain Eligibility Certificate from MSBTE through process. Admission in
such cases shall be provisional and shall be confirmed only after the
acceptance of enrolment form by MSBTE.
2 Years Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (ID)
Recommended for Candidates:
 Completed their education only till SSC or equivalent board.
 Perceive Diploma education after SSC.
 Unfortunately could not seek admission in other courses of Interior design due to
unavailability of seats.
 Consider the syllabus more comprehensive for the said education.
 Wish to complete the Interior Design education in two years.
 Candidates with SSC + 2yrs. Full time Govt. Diploma will be eligible for 1st Year of
B.Voc. (ID) programme – 3 year degree programme by giving Aptitude test.
 Candidate with HSC + 2 yrs. Full time Govt. Diploma will be eligible for 2nd Year of
B.Voc (ID) 3 year degree programme through lateral admissions.
 Prefer Morning batch timings.
3 Years Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (IN)
Recommended for Candidates:
 Completed their education only till SSC or equivalent board.
 Perceive Diploma education after SSC.
 Unfortunately could not seek admission in other courses of Interior design due to
unavailability of seats.
 Consider the syllabus appropriately spaced in 3 years for the said education.
 Wish to complete the Interior Design with more extensive educational years.
 Candidates with SSC + 3 yrs. Part time Govt. Diploma will be eligible for 1st Year of
B.Voc. (ID) programme – 3 year degree programme by giving Aptitude test.
 Candidate with HSC + 3 yrs. Part time Govt. Diploma will be eligible for 2nd Year of
B.Voc (ID) 3 year degree programme through lateral admissions.
 Prefer Afternoon batch timings.

Criteria:
Admissions are granted on the first come first confirm basis, till the admissions
are available as per the sanctioned intake capacity.

Intake for Academic Year 2020-2021:

2 Year Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (ID) = 40 seats

3 Year Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (IN)= 120 seats.

Online registration form for Admission & Counselling:
The Candidates aspiring to take admission to Government Diploma Course in
Interior Designing and Decoration shall fill the Online form for the Interior Design
Courses at L.S. Raheja School of Architecture available on the institute website
www.lsrsa.edu.in under the drop down menu of admission – Government
Diploma Course in Interior Designing and Decoration. The eligible candidates
shall select appropriate options on the online form after reading the admission
manual.
Due to COVID Lockdown the institute is presently closed for face to face
Counselling and giving information about Interior Design Courses. Online
Webinar / Counselling session shall be held in batches for aspiring students. The
students shall be informed about the time and date of Counselling sessions
through WhatsApp messages and email as per data received from the Online
Registration Form. The students and Guardians are requested to remain
updated regarding admissions through institute website.

List of Documents required for Provisional admission:


(Scanned self-attested PDFs not more than 25MB of the following documents have to
be uploaded on email – [email protected] for scrutinizing eligibility of
candidate)

1) Mark sheet of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) / 10th std. or Equivalent Board,
2) Passing Certificate of Secondary School Certificate (SSC)/ 10th std. or Equivalent
Board,
3) Additional Education Qualification mark list & certificate if any.
4) School / College Leaving Certificate as the case may be.
5) Gap certificate in case of non-educational years between AY 2020 and previous
educational year.
6) Address proof - Aadhar Card (compulsory)
Passport / Voter’s I. Card / Electricity Bill /
Driving License (any one)
7) PAN Card (compulsory)
8) Photo: Scanned Passport size photo (35mm X 45mm) to be uploaded
Two Passport size photos (35mm X 45mm) with white background to be submitted
during physical admission document verification.

(For candidates seeking admission under reserved category following additional


documents shall be submitted for scrutiny and eligibility)
10) Valid Caste Certificate,
11) Valid Caste validity Certificate,
12) Valid Non creamy layer Certificate.

Note: The documents in original have to be submitted to college office. The documents are sent to MSBTE
office for scrutiny and only after found appropriate the admission is approved. Admission is approved only
after scrutiny of the original documents and payment of full fees for the academic year 2020-2021, till then
the admission shall be treated provisional
