English 3: Vowel Digraphs

Grade Level Standards: The learner listens critically to get information from text heard, demonstrates
independence in using the basic language structure in oral and written communication, and reads with
comprehension

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of processes in sight word recognition or
phonic analysis to read and understand words.

Performance Standard: The learner uses word recognition techniques to read and understand words
that contain complex letter combinations, affixes and contractions through theme-based activities

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of this topic, the learners are expected to:
● Read words with vowel digraphs ai (pail) ay (bay),ea (tea), ee (teeth),oo (food), oa (road).

● Match words, phrases, and sentences containing these words with pictures.

Vowel digraphs are combination of vowels that produce a single vowel sound digraphs.
such as ay in tray, ai in rain, ea in head and, ee in knees ,oo in pool and oa in
loaf.

got stained. She went home and washed it with soap. Her red coat is clean again.

2. Mother cooked good food. She put the foods in a plain tray. Mother reserved a seat
for me. She also gave me spoon and fork. “Oh! How I love to eat on a day like this.”
