Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College – Deemed to be University, Vijayawada,

offers Ph.D. programmes across various academic disciplines. This program emphasizes both
coursework and original research, encouraging interdisciplinary studies. The University also undertakes
sponsored research projects, collaborating research with industries and organizations from both public
and private sectors. All the departments in Velagapudi Ramakrishna School of Engineering are well
equipped with research facilities and experienced faculty.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Ph D Programmes under Full Time
and Part Time Schemes of Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (Deemed to be
University).
Admission Categories ( 2024-2025)

1. Full-Time Category
▪ All the candidates who pursue full time research in Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha
Engineering College – Deemed to be University, shall belong to one of the following category
 Direct Ph.D. – Candidates under this category gets an opportunity to earn a doctorate in
Engineering / Sciences / Humanities just after the Bachelor’s degree.
 Candidates with fellowships (CSIR, UGC-JRF/NET, QIP, etc.) or sponsored by industries.
 Research Fellows (JRF’s/SRF’s) from VRSEC’s sponsored research projects can also
apply under this category.
 Self-financed: Candidates with an excellent academic record can join the doctoral program
independently.
2. Part-Time (External) Category
▪ Regular/full-time teachers, faculty, or employees from government or private institutions and
industries can apply. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in a
regular/permanent position and their organization must permit and provide necessary research
facilities. The sponsoring organization must be at least five years old (or one year for start-ups). A
no objection cum experience certificate must accompany the application.
3. Part-Time (Internal) Category
▪ Regular employees are also eligible and can apply through the proper channels.
Eligibility
1. Ph.D. in Engineering
▪ For Direct Ph.D.: Candidates with excellent academic record in graduation (10+2+4) or qualified
in GATE with good percentile
▪ 10+2+4+2 pattern of studies or any equivalent in Engineering Degree / 10+2+5 year Integrated M
Tech Programme, Integrated M S Program in Engineering
▪ Candidates with a Master’s in Engineering/Technology or M.S. by Research with a minimum of
60% aggregate marks in their Bachelor’s or Master’s in the relevant discipline or CGPA of 6.5/10
(for SC/ST/OBC 55% aggregate or CGPA of 6.0). A valid CSIR-UGC NET or GATE score is
mandatory for institute fellowships.
2. Ph.D. in Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/English/Social Science/Management
▪ 10+2+3 + 2 or any equivalent in Sciences/Humanities/Management etc.
▪ Candidates with a Master’s degree and first class with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their
Bachelor’s or Master’s in the relevant discipline or CGPA of 6.5/10 (for SC/ST/OBC 55% aggregate
or CGPA of 6.0). A valid CSIR-UGC NET or GATE score is mandatory for institute fellowships.

▪ Chemistry: Green chemistry, organometallic chemistry.
▪ Civil Engineering: Structural engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Construction materials,
transportation engineering, Water resources engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geospatial
Technology.
▪ Computer Science and Engineering: Cybersecurity, network security, networks, optimization
techniques, generative AI, computer vision, machine learning and deep learning applications,
software reliability, cyber physical systems, cloud technologies, wearable technologies,
bioinformatics, high performance computing, soft computing etc..
▪ Electronics and Communication Engineering: AI-based wireless communication, 6G, high data
rate WLAN, remote sensing, image processing, machine learning, deep learning.
▪ Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Power electronics, high voltage engineering, control
systems.
▪ Mathematics: Bio-mathematics, differential equations, mathematical theory of control, operations
research.
▪ Mechanical Engineering: Thermal engineering, energy engineering, polymer composites, gears,
manufacturing engineering, composite materials, digital twin for industrial robotics,
augmented/virtual reality for manufacturing, AI-based metamaterials design.
▪ Physics: Material science, solid-state physics, nanoscience, nanotechnology, condensed matter
physics.
Selection Procedure
1. All candidates should register for admission through prescribed URL:

2. The schedule of admission test and test pattern including syllabus will be intimated to all
registered candidates after last date of registration.
3. It is mandatory for all candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed, shall appear for
SRCAT (Siddhartha Research Common Admission Test).
4. For those candidates who qualify UGC NET//SLET/GATE, teacher fellowship holders or
possessing M Phil or working as Scientists in Government Organisations & Research Labs with
5 years’ experience, the entrance test may be waived off.
5. Selection is based on the performance in SRCAT, PG Degree marks, Research Plan and
Personal Interview.
6. Eligible candidates will be screened by a Departmental Selection Committee.
7. The Shortlisted candidates should appear for a personal interview in the University Premises
and submit their research plan.
8. A merit list will be submitted for approval by the Chairperson of the department through the Dean
(R &D).
9. The selected candidates will be intimated.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

1. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of two years excluding course work, and a
maximum of six years.
2. Extension beyond the above limits will be not beyond more than two years for only deserving
candidates on the discretion of the University.
COURSE WORK
The Credit requirement for the Ph.D. Course work is a minimum of 12 (twelve) credits and maximum of
16 (sixteen) credits. Conducting course work and evaluation pattern shall be as per University statutory
guidelines.

FELLOWSHIPS
All the Full Time Ph.D. Scholars will receive a fellowship of Rs. 35,000/- per month for a period of 3
years (can be extended to one more year with Doctoral Committee recommendations).
Fees Structure
One Time Registration Fee : Rs. 10,000/-
Tuition Fee : Rs. 20,000/- Per Semester for Full Time Scholars
: Rs. 15,000/- Per Semester for Part Time Scholars
Thesis Evaluation Fee : Rs 10,000/-
