IV. PROCEDURES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. DAILY ROUTINE
1) PRAYER
Let us first ask the guidance of the Lord. Are
you ready to pray, class? Yes, we are.

Okay Let’s Pray _____________.

2) GREETINGS
Good morning, class!
Good morning Ma’am!
It’s nice to see you again.
It’s nice to see you too, Ma’am!
Are you ready for today’s lesson?
Yes, Ma’am.
3) CHECKING ATTENDANCE
Let me check first your attendance if
everybody is present.

Are there any absentees today?

There are no absentees today,
Good to hear that! ma’am.
4) CHECKING OF HOMEWORK
Did I give you homework yesterday?
No, ma’am.
In that case, let us proceed!

B. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON OR PRESENTING

THE NEW LESSON

Class this morning, we will have a game.

Yes ma’am!
This game is called Memory Game

I will present to you a picture. Then, I will give

you 20 seconds for you to remember of what
you can see in the picture.

Is it clear class? Yes ma’am!

Your time start now!

So, what living things can you spot on the

picture? (Answers may vary)

How many ducks are in the pond? 6 ducks ma’am

How many people can you spot on the picture? 14 ma’am!

Do you see a newspaper? Yes! Ma’am

What non-living things can you spot on this (Answers may vary)
picture?
Yes ma’am!
Is there a statue?

ELICIT Yes ma’am! It is about living and

Based on the activity, can you remember what non-living things ma’am.
our topic was in the last meeting class?
Very good! You are able to remember our last
topic which is living things and non-living things.

Living things refers to things are now or once

were alive.
Non-living things are anything that was never
alive.

Motivation

Let’s have another activity. This activity called 4

C. Presentation on the Lesson

What did you observe to our activity class?

It’s all about the Layer of the Earth
What is all about? ma’am

Okay very good! Our topic for this morning class is

all about the Layers of the Earth.

1. Setting Standards

But before that, we have a delivery message

today.
Let’s open the door. And when you receive the
message, kindly read what is written in it.
Who would like to welcome the messenger on
the first door?
Be ready ma’am!
Oh yes Ms.___?

Very Good.

Second door….
Oh yes Mr.___?
Be respectful Ma’am!
Very Good.

Third door…

Oh yes Ms.___?
Be attentive ma’am!
Very Good.

Last door…

Oh yes Mr.___?
Participate actively ma’am!
Okay very good! Can I expect all of that from
you class?
Yes ma’am!
2. Lesson Proper
Now let us discuss what are the layers of Earth

The Earth is divided into four main layers.

 Inner core
 Outer core
 Mantle
 Crust
3. Analysis/Discussions

Crust – the Earth’s outermost surface is called

the crust. The crust is relatively light and brittle.
Most earthquakes occur within the crust.

Lithosphere is made up of the Crust and the

Moho.

Two types of Crust

1. Oceanic Crust
2. Continental Crust

Mantle – The mantle is relatively flexible so it

flows instead of fracturing. This is the largest layer
of the Earth.

The mantle is divided into two regions: the

upper and lower sections.

Asthenosphere is the outer layer of the mantle

Outer Core – Fluid layer that contains iron.

When it flows it generates the Earth’s magnetic
field.

Inner Core – Solid inner most layer of the Earth.

4. Generalizations
Who can name the four main layers of the Earth
that you have learned today?
The four main layer of the Earth
are Crust, Mantle, Inner Core and
Outer Core.
Very Good Class!

What do you call the Earth’s outermost surface?

Crust ma’am…
Okay, very good!

What is the largest layer of the Earth?

Mantle ma’am
Very Good Class!

What is the liquid layer of the Earth?

Outer core ma’am
Very Good Class!
Which layer of Earth represents the hard and
solid layer?
Inner core ma’am
Okay, very Good Class!

5. Applications

Grade 7 Science

Chapter 21- Layers of the Earth Activity

In this activity, you will dissect an egg and

compare the layers of the egg to the layers
of the Earth.

1. Begin by peeling the shell of the egg off.

Answer the following question before
continuing to dissect
the egg.

What is the outer layer of the Earth called?

________________________

2. The next layer of the egg is the white of

the egg.
It is the middle layer. You will cut through
this layer until you reach the yellow
portion.

What is this center layer of the Earth

called? _________________
