DEFINITION OF RATIO
What is a Ratio ?
What is a Ratio ?
For Example: Popatlal purchased dozen of lemon
worth Rs. 20 and dozen of apples worth Rs. 100.
Now suppose we need to compare the cost of
apples and lemon.
Therefore, Cost of Apples/ Cost of Lemons = 100/20
=5
Hence we can conclude that apples are 5 times
more expensive than lemon.

Que: If p:q = r:s = t:u = 2:3 then what is the value of (p+r+t) / (q+s+u)?
Que: If p:q = r:s = t:u = 2:3 then what is the value of (p+r+t) / (q+s+u)?
Que: If p:q = r:s = t:u = 2:3 then
what is the value of
(mp+nr+ot) : (mq+ns+ou)?
Que: If a:b = c:d = 2:3 then what is the value of
(ab+cd) / (b2 + d2) ?

Compound Ratio / Compounded Ratio / Mixed Ratio
For two or more ratios, if we take antecedent as product of antecedents of
the ratios and consequent as product of consequents of the ratios, then the
ratio thus formed is called mixed or compound ratio.
In other words,
When two or more ratios are multiplied term wise, the ratio thus obtained
is called compound ratio. 19
Compound Ratio / Compounded Ratio / Mixed Ratio
For example:
The compounded ratio of the two ratios a : b and c : d is the ratio ac : bd, and that
of a : b, c : d and e : f is the ratio ace : bdf.
