Read the text. Choose the best word or phrase to complete the sentence about
the text.

You shouldn’t have posted that …

Social media sites like Facebook have become popular places to communicate with
friends, family, and business associates. And just as there are rules for how to behave
in a face-to-face meeting, there are also rules for behaving politely online. Here are
some tips that will help you avoid being inconsiderate.

Be careful about over-sharing your every thought online. Before you start typing your
next status update for the day, ask yourself if you are over-sharing. Your friends will
most likely be irritated by your constant updates about what you’re eating or how you’re
feeling. It’s best to limit yourself to one or two thoughtful or amusing status updates a
day.

Don’t post every photo you take on your smartphone. More importantly, don’t post
photos of your friends, family, or co-workers without their permission. The last thing your
social media friends want to see online is an embarrassing picture of themselves. If you
really want to post that photo of you and your friends at the Christmas party, ask them
for permission before posting it. And don’t post it if they say no.

Chatting on social media is great, but don’t be hurt if your friends don’t respond
immediately to your message. Even though your friends may be “online,” it doesn’t
mean they’re available. They may not have time for a chat, especially during work
hours.

21. When you’re communicating on social media, you should ____.

A) be inconsiderate
B) have a face-to-face meeting
C) behave politely

22. You should post status updates ____.

A) once or twice a day
B) as often as possible
C) about what you’re eating and how you’re feeling
