A Pocket Devotional

If you’re anything like me, life can become so hectic

that we forget to include Jesus in the day-to-day. We
may spend some time with him in the morning if
we’re lucky, but by the time the afternoon rolls around,
he could be the last thing on our minds. I get it. Life
moves fast and distractions are everywhere.

I don’t want to live like that anymore. Maybe you

can agree.

So I wrote this devotional based on that need. To help

me. And to help you.

Whether you are wrestling with change, searching for

balance in life, or just want to grow closer to God,
each devotional in this collection is like a stepping
stone on your faith journey.
Spending time in the Bible is irreplaceable. So let this
book only be part 1 in the process of growing closer
to Jesus. My real prayer is that this little, pocket-sized
book would inspire you to build a habit out of studying
Scripture. The Bible has completely transformed my
life and I know the same thing will happen to you if
you just take the time.

These devotionals are based on my time with Jesus. As

I study the Bible, these devotionals are what I interpret
the text as saying in my situation. We may interpret the
text differently, but this is what I have gotten out of it.

I pray that it helps you. I pray that it inspires you. And

most importantly, I pray that you begin to connect
with God in a real, transformative way.

DEVOTIONAL
Do you even know how much I love
you, my child? In a world that often
feels harsh and unkind, my love for you
is endless, unchanging, and beyond
measure. In times of joy and seasons
of sorrow, my love always surrounds
you, holding you close. So let me be
your sanctuary, your place of refuge. I
want you to find comfort, peace, and
boundless love with me. When things
seem overwhelming, when you feel like
it’s all too much and what you bring
to the table isn’t enough, come to me.
Know that you are seen, you are known,
and you are infinitely loved.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
Your love is where I find peace and
rest. I’m forever grateful for this
priceless gift that I don’t have to
earn but is freely given. When I feel
overwhelmed, help me remember to
seek refuge in your love. Wrap me in
your comforting presence and let me
feel your never-ending love in every
situation I face.

DEVOTIONAL
You have been facing many big
decisions lately, haven’t you? Sometimes,
knowing which way to go is difficult,
but remember what Solomon said: To
trust me with your whole heart. To
seek my will in all you do. And I will
show you which way to go. So don’t be
overwhelmed by the options in front of
you. Share your concerns and hopes with
Me, and lean into My wisdom, not just
your own. I will guide you in the right
direction, smoothing out the bumps and
making your path clear. Just keep your
heart open to Me and trust that I am
with you every step of the way.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
I acknowledge that I don’t have all of
the answers. Thank you for being my
guide and my compass. Help me to
trust you wholeheartedly, especially
when it doesn’t make sense. I place my
life in your loving hands, knowing that
I’m always on the right path with you.
So, strengthen my faith and guide me
into your perfect plans.

DEVOTIONAL
Life is a lot sometimes, but you don’t have
to go it alone. Getting caught in the what-
ifs and how-tos can be so easy, right? But
here’s my invitation: “Don’t worry about
anything; instead pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank Him
for all He has done.” I want to be your go-
to, your safe space. Come to me with your
worries, your fears, your wishes, and your
dreams. Talk to me, thank me for what you
have, and let’s work on the rest together.
Let prayer be your first response, not your
last resort. Feel my presence cover you,
replacing your worries and uplifting your
spirit. I’m here for you through it all.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
My heart is full of worries, and my
mind is constantly racing. Thank
you for being my safe space, the one
I can always turn to. So today, I lay
my anxieties at your feet, knowing
you care for me. Please fill me
with your peace that surpasses all
understanding. Guide me through
my challenges and help me trust you
more each day.

DEVOTIONAL
I know how easy it is to hold onto grudges
and let bitterness take root in your heart,
my child. But listen closely: My love and
forgiveness are unlimited, and I’ve given
them freely to you.
Because you’re loved and forgiven, you
have the power to love and forgive others,
too. Being kind, compassionate, and
forgiving isn’t just a command; it’s a way
to reflect my love in your life.
Remember how much I have forgiven you
when you find it hard to forgive. Extend
that grace to others, not just because it’s
the right thing to do, but because it frees
your heart and brings you closer to me.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
Thank you for the endless love and
forgiveness you generously pour
into my life. Fill my heart with your
compassion to share your grace and
kindness with others, even when
it’s hard. Help me release grudges
or bitterness, replacing them with
your love and forgiveness. Free my
heart so I can grow stronger in my
relationship with you.

DEVOTIONAL
Life is full of ups and downs. But
remember, I am your Good Shepherd,
guiding you every step of the way. When
you walk through valleys of uncertainty
or find yourself in need, I am there
to provide, comfort, and protect you.
Lean on Me, and you’ll find rest and
nourishment for your soul. There’s no
need to fear, for my rod and staff are
here to guide you and give you peace.
Rejoice, for goodness and mercy will
follow you all the days of your life, and
we will live together forever.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
You are my Good Shepherd, and I
trust that you will lead me to places
of rest and renewal. When I feel
lost, help me remember that you are
guiding me in the right direction.
Thank you for your protection,
provision, and peace that you give

cared for.

DEVOTIONAL
I know you have struggles, my child.
You carry burdens that sometimes feel
too heavy to bear. But remember this:
My grace is all you need. It’s in your
moments of weakness that my strength
shines brightest. Don’t be discouraged
when you feel vulnerable or weak. Those
are the times when I can work through
you with my power. Instead of running
from your weaknesses, lean into me, and
you’ll find that my strength is all you
need. You are strong in me, and I am
always with you.

Dear God,
Thank you that your grace meets me
right where I am, especially in my
weakest moments. I surrender my
struggles and inadequacies to you,
trusting that your strength will shine
through them. Help me lean into
your grace, knowing it’s all I need to
overcome any challenges. Transform
my weaknesses into opportunities for
your power to be displayed.

DEVOTIONAL
No matter what you are going through,
remember that joy is not based on your
circumstances; it’s found in me. I invite
you to rejoice, not just once, but always.
I know it sounds strange to be joyful
when life feels overwhelming or painful.
But during those times, your joy in me
becomes a testimony of hope. It’s a
powerful way to demonstrate your trust
in my plans for you. So draw near to me,
and let your joy shine for yourself and
others. Rejoice in the Lord always. Yes,
even now, rejoice.

Dear God,
Thank you for being my true source
of joy, no matter what’s happening
around me. Help me to hold onto
this deep-rooted joy that comes from
you, especially when it’s challenging
to feel. Help me to rejoice always,
leaning into your promise and your

of your love and faithfulness.

DEVOTIONAL
You are more than just another face in
the crowd; you are the light of the world.
I’ve placed a unique light within you, not
to be hidden away but to shine brightly
for all to see. When life’s challenges
make you feel like dimming your light,
remember that your light is needed most
during the darkest times. Let your light
shine before others, not for your glory, so
they may see the good you do and glorify
your Father in Heaven. Don’t be afraid
to shine, for your light reveals the path to
me. Keep your light shining brightly, my
child, to bring glory to your
Heavenly Father.

Dear God,
Thank you for making me a light in
this dark world, designed to shine for
your glory. Give me the courage to
let my light shine, especially in the
darkest corners where it’s needed
most. Help me always point the way

DEVOTIONAL
In a world that constantly demands
evidence, I ask you to be counter-cultural:
live by faith, not by sight. Remember:
faith is the assurance of things you
hope for and the certainty of what you
cannot see. Your faith is like a seed; it
may start small, but it has the potential
to grow into something extraordinary.
The heroes of faith in the Bible weren’t
born with extraordinary faith; they grew
in it by trusting me in their everyday
circumstances. Hold onto your faith,
especially when it seems like there’s
no reason to believe, for it’s in those
stretching moments that your faith has
room to grow. So let it grow.

 PRAYER
Dear God,
Thank you for the gift of faith,
which is my anchor in a world that
often seems uncertain. Help me
nurture this seed of faith you’ve
placed within me, trusting that you
are in control even when I can’t
see the outcome. Strengthen my
faith, especially in the challenging
moments.

DEVOTIONAL
My child, I call you to live a life of unity
and peace. In a world where division and
chaos seem to be the norm, you have
a vital role to play. I want you to live
differently. I want you to represent me
in all you do. Never underestimate the
power of a peaceful heart. It’s more than
just a personal comfort; it shows my love
and unity to those around you. When
conflicts arise, as they inevitably will, seek
to be a peacemaker, knowing that you are
part of a larger body united in me. Keep
your focus on what binds you together
with others, not what drives you apart.
Be focused on maintaining this unity, and
through it, my love will always prevail.

Dear God,
Thank you for being my life’s
ultimate source of peace and unity.

DEVOTIONAL
My child, do you know how much I want
you to return to me, no matter how far
you’ve wandered? When you fall away,
know my eyes are always on the horizon,
waiting for your return. Don’t let shame
keep you from me. I always have my
arms wide open, ready to celebrate your
homecoming. You don’t have to earn
your way back into my love; it’s a gift
freely given. Come to me, weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. Never
forget that I’m always here for you.

Dear God,
Thank you for always waiting for
me with open arms, no matter how
far I’ve fallen away. Help me to
overcome any shame or fear that
holds me back from returning to
you. Fill my heart with your joy and
love. I pray for strength to turn back

no bounds.

DEVOTIONAL
Let me put you onto something: You need to
understand that you’re not just battling life’s
challenges but spiritual forces as well. I’ve
given you a set of armor, not of metal and
leather, but of truth, righteousness, and faith.
Don’t underestimate its power; it’s designed
to withstand any attack the world throws at
you. Strap on the belt of truth and let it guide
your actions. Put on the helmet of salvation to
protect your thoughts, and don’t forget to carry
the shield of faith to block the darts of doubt.
Remember, you’re not fighting this battle alone;
I am your Commander, leading you to victory.
So stand firm, knowing that with me by your
side and my armor protecting you, no harm will
come to your soul.

Dear God,
Thank you for equipping me with
your armor, tailor-made for the battles
I face. Help me wear it with pride
and confidence each day, knowing
that you are my protector and guide.
Increase my faith so that my shield

to be righteous in my actions, and to
trust in your salvation, even when the

DEVOTIONAL
My child, know that wisdom is more
valuable than gold in this world, and
I freely offer it to you. If you ever find
yourself in a place of uncertainty or
confusion, all you have to do is ask me.
I won’t judge you for not knowing; I
delight in your seeking heart. Please
understand that true wisdom comes from
leaning into me, not just learning facts or
following formulas. When you seek my
wisdom, you gain answers and a deeper
relationship with me. So, whenever
you’re puzzled about what step to take
next, come to me. I am the source of all
wisdom and love sharing it with you.

Dear God,
Thank you for promising wisdom
to us who simply ask. Today, I come
before you with a seeking heart,
asking for the wisdom I need. Help
me recognize your guidance and
apply your wisdom in my decisions,

your knowledge, understanding that
it’s more than just answers - a path

Living a life full of love isn’t about being
the star of your own show; it’s about
lifting others into the spotlight. You might
think your value comes from how well you
perform, how many likes you get, or how
much you achieve. But in my Kingdom,
greatness is all about humility and serving
others. Don’t let pride or selfish ambition
steal your focus. Instead, consider what’s best
for those around you, just as I considered
you and went to the cross. When you make
the needs and interests of others your
priority, you’re walking in my footsteps. And
remember, serving others isn’t losing; it’s the
true way to gain.

Dear God,
Help me to truly grasp what it
means to be humble and to serve
others. Let me set aside my desires
and wants, focusing instead on how
to bless those around me. Show me
how to see people through your eyes,

world that often overlooks those
two things.

DEVOTIONAL
My child, don’t overlook the treasure
of the Bible. I have inspired every word
in it, and it’s not just an old book; it’s
your guide for every situation you face.
You may sometimes think you don’t
need instructions for life, but Scripture is
there to teach you what is true, correct
your mistakes, and equip you for every
good work. Imagine it as a toolkit. Like
a hammer and nails fix broken things
around your house, My Word heals the
broken places in your heart and life.
So, dig into it daily. Let it shape your
thoughts, actions, and the core of who
you are.

Dear God,
Thank you for giving us your Word
as a guiding light. Help me not just
to read it but to understand and
apply its truths to my daily situations.

DEVOTIONAL
You can always rely on me and the hope
I have to offer, even in a world filled with
uncertainties. Know that I, the God
of hope, fill you with all joy and peace
as you trust in me. The more you lean
into me, the more hope will overflow
within you, illuminating the path ahead.
Remember, hope isn’t a fleeting emotion
but a steadfast anchor for your soul. Just
like a tree extends its roots deep into the
earth to withstand life’s storms, so too
should your hope find its anchor in me.
Let the Holy Spirit empower you, and

I have something important to share with
you, my child. I know I said the greatest
commandment is to love God, but right
after that is to love your neighbor as
yourself. This isn’t just about the person
living next door; it’s about everyone
you encounter. This isn’t always easy,
but it’s the kind of love that can change
the world, one heart at a time. It’s not
just about saying it; it’s about showing
it—like how I showed you love. So, lend
a hand, smile, or listen when someone
needs to talk. When you do this, you’re
walking in my footsteps. Today, and
every day, choose to love. It’s the best
way to make your soul shine.

Dear God,
Thank you for showing me the true
meaning of love through Jesus. Help
me to be more like him, to see people

I’ll help you change if you let me.
You’ve heard of the fruits of the Spirit,
the attributes like love, joy, and peace. I
want you to understand that these are
not just gifts you ask for; they are aspects
of my character that I long to grow
within you. Allow me to cultivate these
traits in your life. Instead of striving on
your own, let me work in you, bringing
forth a harvest of righteousness that
enriches your life and blesses those
around you. Remember, when you
remain rooted in me, the Spirit naturally
produces fruit in you.

DEVOTIONAL
Life brings trials and challenges that may
seem overwhelming at times. Yet, in these very
moments, I am molding you, building resilience
and strength within you. Trials are not obstacles
but stepping stones, pushing you to be more
steadfast. Embrace them, for they are a part of
the spiritual journey I have set before you. Allow
perseverance to complete its work so you may
be complete, lacking in nothing. These are the
moments where you can see me most clearly, in
the silences, struggles, and relentless pursuit of
peace. I am here with you, walking you through
the difficulties, equipping you to become a fuller
version of yourself. My love is shaping you, so
don’t lose heart. Trust the process, trust the
journey, and most importantly, trust me.

My child, you must understand my endless
love for you, a love so boundless that the
Father sent me to walk among you. This love
isn’t just a fleeting emotion but a promise,
a commitment that you would not be lost
but would find eternal life. Trust in this
ultimate sacrifice; know it has washed away
all barriers between you and the Father. No
condition, no circumstance can diminish this
love. It’s a love that calls you to believe and
live in a way that reflects this belief. So today,
as you navigate the complexities of life,
pause and remember: You are forever loved,
more than you can ever fathom.

My child, I see you striving, working
hard to achieve, serve, and be something
in this world. Yet, you don’t need to
strive to earn love or worth; I already
poured out my love for you when I came
not to be served but to serve. I gave my
life as a ransom for you. That’s how
much you matter to me. Slow down and
breathe. The world praises the loudest
and the strongest, but in my eyes, you’re
valued because you are you. Let my spirit
of service fill you. As you serve others,
you’ll find the greatest reward—my love,
shining back at you through the smiles
and hearts of those you touch.

Dear God,
Thank you for sending your son to
serve so selflessly and for showing
me what true love and humility look

DEVOTIONAL
I want you to thrive in life like a tree planted
by streams of water. I see you struggling
to find your footing in a chaotic world, but
remember, you find your proper nourishment
in me and my Word. The world offers you
many paths, but the way of righteousness—of
living in harmony with me—is the one that
leads to true joy and peace. You don’t have
to wander; your life can bear fruit when you
abide in me every season. Reflect on my
teachings and allow them to fill your thoughts;
they are the roadmap to a life full of purpose
and peace. With me by your side, you’ll stand
tall, even when the winds of change and
hardship blow.

In every moment and circumstance,
there’s a reason to give thanks. Life
isn’t always smooth sailing; sometimes,
you might wonder where I am. But
remember gratitude isn’t just for the

through the dark clouds of hardship. As
you thank me, you’ll find a peace that
transcends understanding even when
your heart is heavy. You might not see
the reasons now but trust that I am
working all things for your good. When
you embrace gratitude as a way of life,

Let’s talk about what holds you down.
The world may lead you to believe
that happiness and worth come from
material things or the praise of others.
But remember, the true source of
nourishment is found in a relationship
with me. Don’t place your trust solely
in the fleeting things of this world; they
are like burned soil that can’t offer you
real sustenance. Instead, grow your
roots deep in the fertile soil of my love
and wisdom. In doing so, you’ll be like
a tree planted by the water, strong and
flourishing, able to face any season of life
with resilience and grace.

My child, I know you are drained by
the relentless pace of life. Come, let’s
pause and take a moment. I am your
ever-present strength, here to refresh
you like a soaring eagle on the currents
of the wind. Give me your tiredness,
your burdens, and I will restore you.
Lean on my everlasting arms and find a
strength you never knew existed. With
me, you won’t just walk; you will run
and not grow weary, soaring high above

If you love Me, the natural outcome is to
follow my commands. Now, don’t let that
word ‘commands’ trip you up. I’m not
talking about rigid rules that will weigh
you down. I’m speaking of a loving path
that I’ve crafted especially for you, a
path that leads to true peace, joy, and
eternal life. My commands are designed
to guide you closer to me, to deepen our
relationship. They are signposts pointing
you toward a life filled with love and
meaning. Keep your heart in tune with
mine, and you’ll find that following my
ways is the most fulfilling journey you
could ever go on.

Dear God,
Thank you for showing me the

I know you face all types of

guide you in the art of contentment.
Contentment doesn’t mean you’re
complacent or don’t desire change;
instead, it means you can be steady in
your soul no matter what swirls around
you. With me, you can be just as rooted
in joy during hardship as you are in
prosperity. Remember, it’s not your
own strength that sustains you; it’s my
strength that fills you to capacity. Lean
on me, for I can do all things, and so can
you when your strength flows from me.

never alone, for even in your solitude, I
am with you. My friendship is constant
and unfailing and runs deeper than
