QUESTIONS

Question One
a) Some educational institutions’ managers often use the word
“supervision” interchangeably with “inspection”. However, this is not the
true reflection in management of learning institutions. Explain.

b) Assuming that you are a newly appointed district education officer, and
you are required to develop a programme for in-service education.
Explain the principles you would base on in designing the programme.
(10 Marks)

c) It is important that all the students on teaching practices are supervised.


Suggest the roles of supervisor in teaching practice. (5 Marks)

d) Discuss the community and society factors that contribute against


successful inspection/assessment and supervision of school as
identifiable in government teachers, community and society. (5 Marks)

Question Two
The school is a mirror of the community. Using relevant examples, discuss this
statement in relation to current dispensation of emerging issues in education.

The government, through the ministry of education ensures that all public
schools are supervised. Despite this being an expensive exercise to the
ministry, it is still a necessary aspect in management of learning institutions.
Explain the rationale behing supervision of learning institutions in Kenya.

Question Four
Teachers service commission recently proposed an inspection framework in the
name of an inspection handbook. Using the possible future challenges likely to
be experienced in implementation, briefly critique the handbook. (15 Marks)

Question Five
Discuss any ten dimensions of supervisory behaviour used in supervision and
curriculum development. (15 Marks)
