This document and referenced ITRs shall be applied to Construction/Inspection & Test activities
carried out on E&C Project Sites.

This document is based on widely used international codes, standards and good engineering practice
that is applied in Oil & Gas Projects and is intended to highlight the minimum tests and inspections
that ensure quality requirements are fulfilled within the scope of the document.

This document and referenced ITRs are generated to provide guidelines to Petrofac E&C Project
teams including their sub-contractors during preparation of project specific QCPs/ITRs and shall be
customized to meet specific requirements based on applicable project specifications and/or other
statutory and regulatory requirements. It may also be utilized at bidding/proposals stage.

In case of any conflict between this document and the Project specification, drawings and applicable
codes, the project specification shall take precedence over this QCP and applicable ITRs.

The referenced Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) are controlled independently. Therefore, the
latest revision of these ITRs, at the time of initiation, shall be utilized.

ITR number suffixed with letter “X” are classified as in-process Site/Field Quality Records and will not
be part of the Turnover System Process where as ITR number suffixed with letter “A” are part of the
Turnover Process and Turnover Records.

When filling ITRs do not leave any blanks. If an item/activity is not applicable, denote as N/A.

Use of Blanco, Tipp-ex etc. on ITR is forbidden.

1.0 PURPOSE
1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to define the inspection method and acceptance criteria
for the installation of cable trays/ladders and conduit systems and the responsibility of
construction and Quality Control personnel with regard to this procedure.

2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This Quality Control Procedure defines the Quality Control activities and the inspections
pertaining to the Installation of Cable Trays/Ladders and Conduit Systems.

2.2 This procedure covers work up to and including mechanical completion.

5.0 RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY
5.1 The SC Site E&I Engineer/Supervisor shall be responsible for ensuring that cable
tray/ladder and conduit systems are installed to an acceptable standard of workmanship
and in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications as well as making
request for inspection (RFI) to Quality Department at each stage of work as per the
applicable ITP requirements.

5.2 The E&I QC Inspector/Site Supervisor shall be responsible as indicated on the ITP for
verifying that work carried out is complete, correct and meets the specified
requirements.

5.3 The QC Engineer or his designee shall be responsible for ensuring that all inspections
and tests are witnessed based on approved ITP, recorded on applicable ITR listed in
7.1 and signed off.

5.4 The Site Electrician under the supervision of E&I Supervisor shall conduct all tests and
the test shall be witnessed and results recorded by SC E&I QC Inspector.

6.0 DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

6.1 General Requirements


6.1.1

All material received at site shall be inspected upon receipt in accordance with
Construction Management Procedure for Material Receiving.

6.1.2 The Inspection/Test shall be recorded as defined herein and witnessed by
Subcontractor, Petrofac and Company as indicated in the ITP. Prior to issuing the
report forms, the inspection items shall be signed off by the concerned inspection
personnel as indicated on the ITP No. PEC-QU-ITP-X-10859.
6.2 Material Inspection Prior to Installation

6.2.1 Prior to removal to site, cable trays/ladders/conduits and supports shall be inspected
for physical damage.

6.2.2 Where damage is observed, this shall be recorded and reported on a damage report.
6.3 Inspection of Cable Tray/Ladder Installation
6.3.1 Cable tray/Ladders shall be inspected to ensure they are installed according to the
typical installation drawing.

6.3.2 Supporting structures are sufficient to ensure that deflection of the system does not
exceed recommended values of the manufacturer catalogue.

6.3.3 Ensure that main cable tray routing is in accordance with layout drawings, any
deviation in routing shall be marked up in as-built drawings.

6.3.4 Branch cable trays are normally site routed to suit actual site conditions, ensure that
all branch trays are routed in good manner and not an obstruction to access or trip
hazard.

6.3.5 Ensure that expansion joints, where specified, is fitted at correct location and support
provided at both sides.

6.3.6 Repairs to damage through cutting, splicing and in-situ fabrications have been made
good in the project procedure approved manner.

6.3.7 There are no sharp edges throughout the run, which could cause damage to the
cable, and clamping bolts present smooth heads inside the trays and not the nut end
of the bolt.

6.3.8 The trays should have sufficient clearance from sources of heat.

6.3.9 The cable tray system is "electrically continuous" and where specified bonding straps
have been installed.

6.3.10 Earthing and bonding is as per the detail drawings and installed in accordance with
Project specifications.

6.3.11 Prior to laying of cables, sections of rack and tray runs shall be complete, inspected
and signed off as per the ITP.

6.3.12 Inspection results shall be recorded on ITR-E-0201X.


6.4 Inspection of Conduit Installation
6.4.1 Conduit routing and sizing shall be checked against the Installation Standards, conduit
schedule and typical Installation drawings. Particular attention shall be paid to
installations in hazardous areas.
6.4.2 Conduit runs shall be inspected to ensure the following:
a) Installation is in accordance with engineering drawings.
b) Supports are secured and fixed at intervals such that bending or sagging does not
occur.

c) Supports are installed as close as possible to the terminal fittings of the runs.

d) Pull boxes/Junction boxes are installed and where applicable securely fixed on
racks or concrete foundation.
e) Threaded joints and fittings are properly tightened with correct thread
engagement; threads are made good and no sharp edges. Running threads are

not allowed.
f) Conduit routing is clear from hot surfaces.
g) Conduits carrying interactive signals are effectively segregated.
h) Conduits have been de-burred and clear of stoppages.
i) Raw cut threads treated in the approved manner.
j) Seals, drains, breathers etc. are installed as per the approved drawings.
k) Pull wires are installed to facilitate cable pulling.
l) The conduit run is electrically continuous and where applicable, earth-bonding
wires are installed.
m) Bending radius and total number of bends in a conduit run shall be verified.
n) Conduit cleaned, open ends sealed and gasket installed.
6.4.3 Inspection results shall be recorded on ITR-E-0202X.

6.5 Post Cabling Inspection of Cable Tray/Ladder/Conduit


6.5.1 Number of cables shall be checked for each ladder rack/cable tray and shall be as per
design.

6.5.2 After completion of cable installation, cable trays/ladders/conduits shall be inspected


to ensure.

a) Dressing and segregation is satisfactory in accordance with project requirements.

b) Identification tags are provided at specified intervals/locations as per installation
details.

c) All required test are completed and results recorded as per applicable ITP.

d) No physical damage.

e) Earth bonding provided at specified locations in accordance with installation


details.

6.5.3 Inspection results shall be recorded on ITR-E-0203X.

6.6 Inspection of Cable Tray Cover Installation


6.6.1 Removable covers shall be provided on cable trays/ladders, allowing adequate
ventilation in situations where:

a) Mechanical damage is likely to occur during plant operation or maintenance


activities.

b) Oil or chemical spillages on the trays can be expected.

c) Cables are exposed to direct sunlight.

6.6.2 Installation of cable tray cover shall be inspected to ensure:

a) Covers are fitted as per Project requirement.
b) Cover size is suitable/matching with cable tray size.
c) Proper fixing of covers.
d) Clamps and covers are suitable for the location (indoor/outdoor) as

recommended by manufacturer.
e) Clamps are of correct type, size, and material as per installation details.
f) Check spacing of clamps.
g) Cover installation is satisfactory at bends and change of direction.
h) Correct type of nut/bolt/washers used and properly tightened (if applicable)
6.6.3 The test results shall be recorded on ITR-E-0204X.
