This is to endorse the 7th International STEAM Research Congress (iSTEAM+ 2024,
organized by the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), in partnership with the
Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE). The conference,
with the theme "STEAM+ for Sustainable Futures: Bridging Research, Innovation, and
Extension”, will take place from July 22 to 24, 2024, at EVSU, Tacloban City.

The iSTEAM+ 2024 underscores building professional networks that necessitate the
transposition of our Research, Innovation, and Extension programs, projects, and
activities attuned to regional, national, and global needs. The congress extends its
coverage and focus as a sustainable development knowledge platform to include other
fields that have significant impacts on people’s lives. The specific objectives of the
7th iSTEAM are the following: 1) gather researchers professionals, practitioners, and
graduate students for knowledge generation, dissemination, utilization, and adoption;
2) provide an avenue for discoveries and scientific breakthroughs in the identified
disciplines; 3) provide upskilling and reskilling opportunities; and 4) beef up the
research, innovation, and extension services (REI) ecosystem.

The organizers will be receiving abstract submissions until June 20, 2024.

(Conference Concept Note)

I. Rationale

The Eastern Visayas State University is already in its seventh year of orchestrating
an international research congress on STEAM areas, i.e., Science, Technology,
Engineering, Agri-Fisheries, and Mathematics. Aimed at gathering researchers,
practitioners, and young professionals for knowledge dissemination, this year’s 7 th
iSTEAM Plus or 7th iSTEAM+ extends its coverage and focus as a sustainable
development knowledge platform to include other fields that have significant impacts in
people’s lives, such as health care (nutrition and dietetics and related fields) and social
sciences (economics, humanities and related fields). Providing avenues for scientific
breakthroughs, building a stronger knowledge economy, and strengthening the regional
innovation ecosystem define the 7th iSTEAM+. This year’s research congress underscores
building professional networks that necessitate transposition of our Research, Innovation,
and Extension programs, projects, and activities attuned to the regional, national and
global needs.

In line with EVSU’s commitment to pursue excellence in the field of STEAM, the
Eastern Visayas University (EVSU) capitalizes on collaboration and networking efforts.
Hence, partnership with the Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering
(PAASE) is deemed pivotal to elevate the conference platform and tools. EVSU and
PAASE have partnered to organize the 7th International STEAM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Agri-Fisheries, and Mathematics) Research Congress held in conjunction
with the Annual APAMS Meeting and Symposium (APAMS).

With the paradigm shift in higher education, there is a need to make innovations,
research, and extension programs of higher education institutions work for the society
and advocate development for local communities. To leverage our instrumentalities, we
need enabling policies, informed human capital, networking assets, and the like, to propel
productivity among collaborators and actors of the innovation ecosystem.

Germane to the development goals of the present University President, Dr. Dennis
C. de Paz, and to create a positive collaborative culture among government and non-
government agencies, the 7th iSTEAM+ with the theme "STEAM+ for Sustainable
Futures: Bridging Research, Innovation, and Extension” is indeed an opportunity to
navigate the arteries of development in priority areas while traversing the connection of
the academe to local communities through research, innovation, and extension services.

II. Objectives

1. To gather researchers professionals, practitioners, and graduate students for

knowledge generation, dissemination, utilization, and adoption
2. To provide an avenue for discoveries and scientific breakthroughs in the
identified disciplines
3. To provide upskilling and reskilling opportunities
4. To beef up the research, innovation, and extension services (REI) ecosystem
III. Schedule and Platform

The 7th International STEAM Research Congress or iSTEAM+ 2024 will be held on
July 22-24, 2024 via hybrid modality.

Deadline for abstract submission for presentation consideration: June 20, 2024
Final payment for paper presenters: June 15, 2024
Final Payment for participants/observers: July 15, 2024

Paper presenters and participants in the 7th iSTEAM+ are advised to

register through the registration portal https://conference.evsu.edu.ph. Payment for the

V. Abstract/Paper Submission

A 200-word abstract in Microsoft Word shall be submitted to the

secretariat at [email protected]. The abstract should have the following
parts: (1) introduction of the topic; (2) objectives; (3) methods; (4) results;
(5) conclusion and (6) keywords (which may either be a discipline of the
study, concepts investigated, methods and process). In addition, the
proponent/researcher shall also submit his or her formal 2x2 photo, ORCID ID,
name of institution, and institution logo.

Notice of acceptance shall be given to qualified presenters. To be

considered for the Best Paper Award, full paper must be submitted. The
manuscript must be accurate in substance and form, to include the following
parts:
 1. Heading (title, name of the author, ORCID Number, email address,
affiliation and Address)
2. Abstract
3. Keywords
4. Introduction
5. Framework of the Study
6. Objectives of the Study
7. Materials and Methods (for experimental researches)
Methodology (for non-experimental researches)
