The program that we will undertake as part of this course is community immersion.
Community immersion is a learning approach where students are given the opportunity
to interact and engage with a local community to gain firsthand experience of the social
and cultural factors that influence the community. By doing so, we will be able to
understand their needs, perspectives, and the challenges they face. Through community
immersion, we can develop an appreciation become part of a community. It involves
observing, experiencing, and participating in different aspects of a community's daily
life, culture, and activities.
The output of community immersion involves making changes that positively impact the
community. The change can be in the form of a physical renovation project, workshop,
training program, or awareness campaign. The best outcome, however, is the
development of a long-lasting relationship between the community and students, which
can lead to further engagement, collaboration and understanding.

On the third day of our community immersion at Barangay
Nagdayao, our fellow FDAT 1C students are masters of ceremonies.
Before we traveled to Barangay Nagdayao, we gathered first around
6:30 a.m. at Sibalom Central School. At 7:10 am, we arrived at
Barangay Nagdayao. The program started with pambansang awit,
followed by an opening prayer and an opening message by the
punong barangay of Nagdayao. Our participants during that time are
the parents, students, 4P's members, and barangay officials of
Barangay Nagdayao. The introduction of our speaker happened after
those messages. Our speakers during that time were Police Chief
Master Sergeant Marelin M. Ello and Patrol Woman Jeanilen
Gregorio. Our first speaker, Mrs. Ello, explained the law that protects
children. She also explained the importance of VAWC (violence
against women and children) in one community. After Mrs. Ello gave
her thoughts to us about the topic that she discussed, the next speaker,
Ms. Gregorio, started her lecture about drug abuse. She explained to
us how to prevent drugs and what are the causes and effects of taking
drugs. After our speaker gave their thoughts about the topic, the
giving of certificates and tokens happened. The giving of certificates
and tokens was led by officials of Barangay Nagdayao, Mr. Aguilerio,
and the mayor of our community immersion. After the program, Mr.
Aguilario gave his instructions to us, and we went home safely.

As for the team, I believe they have done an excellent job in facilitating this
program and creating an environment of learning and growth. They have
demonstrated a genuine commitment to understanding and addressing the needs
of the community, while also providing participants with opportunities for
personal and professional development.
In terms of how I can apply these lessons in my own life, I am reminded of the
importance of empathy, collaboration, and perseverance. I have also gained a
deeper appreciation for the ways in which small actions can lead to meaningful
change over time.
