2. Cite some advantages of performance-based assessment over traditional assessment.

Advantages of performance-based assessment for students, it helps to apply in-class learning to

situations outside of the classroom. For teachers, it offers deeper insight into the learning needs of
students. At the same time, they offer a way for students to better measure their own understanding
and success. Letting the learners do actual assessments can help them understand their lessons. While
Traditional assessment is more on pen and paper assessment only which may be okay to some of the
learners as not all learners are the same some prefers actual assessment than pen and paper
assessment.
3. Differentiate performance-based assessment form portfolio assessment

Performance based assessment is more on actual assessment, while portfolio assessment is more on
collecting learners works and exhibiting their creativity, progress and achievements.

4. Differentiate the two types of performance activities.

The Performance-based assessment is a direct assessment which means learners will have no
time to prepare just the learning’s they had for the day and also it can make the learners agony on
assessments very short depending on your performance and assessment to make, while the portfolio
learners may have a lot of time in preparing it putting more effort to make it perfect you can review it
and change something if you like compared to performance based assessment.

5. Discuss the different types of portfolio and give examples.

Working portfolio, the working portfolio is a working document. This means that you will be building or
adding to the portfolio every day during your placement to display the tasks and activities that you are
completing. For example at the beginning of the class the teacher already tells the class to keep all the
activities they had for they will make a portfolio at the end of the semester containing all their activities,
assessments, and daily reflections and evaluations of your teacher.

A showcase portfolio contains products that demonstrate how capable the owner is at any given
moment. For example a teacher showcases her idea by posting pictures on the board and cites some
examples that show how interesting the methods are for students.

Progress portfolio also known as the teacher alternative Assessment portfolio this is a method of
evaluation that measures a student’s level of proficiency in a subject as opposed to the student’s level of
knowledge. The overall goal of alternative assessment is to allow students to demonstrate their
knowledge and execute tasks.
