GENERAL EXAMINATIONS RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR

CANDIDATES

1. Strict silence must be observed in and around the examination


centre.

2. Students/Candidates are required to be seated at most thirty (30)


minutes before the commencement of each examination.

3. Advance copies of examination timetables will be posted on the


CTVET website (www.ctvet.gov.gh) three months prior to the
examinations. Stakeholders are encouraged to visit the website to
download a copy.

4. The CTVET examination timetables, when released, shall be


provisional until at most two (2) months to the date of the
examinations when a final timetable shall be communicated to the
public. Internal changes within the examination timetables must as
well be within the provisional period. CTVET shall, for all exams,
incorporate a one-week buffer for unforeseen exams related
events.

5. The candidate must only occupy designated places with index


numbers assigned to him/her in the examination hall.
6. All candidates must report to the exams centre at most one hour to
the start of the exams.

7. All candidates must go through all exams-related protocols and be


seated at most 30minutes before the official start time.

8. No candidate shall be allowed into the exams hall/room after the


start of the exams.

9. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination room until


half-an-hour after the examination paper has been given out.

10. Any candidate leaving an examination room/hall after half-an-


hour and intending to return shall be accompanied by an invigilator.

11. Candidates leaving the exams room after half-an-hour, shall


not be permitted to take out any examination material or bring back
in any material.

12. Candidates are to present their index number slips. The


invigilators shall check them before candidates are allowed to sit for
the examination.

13. CTVET exams officials must inspect all such index number slips
to ensure identity match. Any unauthorized mark on the slip
renders it invalid. In addition, writings found on the slip during
examinations shall be considered an exam irregularity and the
relevant sanction would be taken.

14. Candidates shall not take unauthorized foreign materials to the


examination hall/room.

15. It shall be the candidates' responsibility to provide for


themselves such materials as pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, calculator
for the examination. Borrowing of these materials will not be
allowed. Candidates are to ensure that they are given the right
question paper and other material(s) needed for the examination.

16. Candidates are to use their index numbers throughout the


examination. They are to read the instructions in the question
papers before answering the questions. It is most important that
candidates write their full name, centre number and candidates' full
index number correctly on all their examination papers

17. On receipt of answer booklet, candidates should carefully read


the instructions on the front cover of the answer booklet and enter
their index numbers and other details as required.

18. Where the time allotted for the paper conflicts with that on
the question paper, the time on the question paper takes
precedence.
19. Candidates may leave the examination room/hall temporarily
only with the express permission of the invigilator.

20. Mobile phones/electronic gadgets are not allowed in the


examination room/hall.

21. Hearing aids: Candidate(s) with hearing disability may with the
permission of the supervisor, be allowed to bring a hearing aid into
the Examinations Hall.

22. For a candidate with a particular disability, if well


communicated to the Commission, special arrangements (e.g. an
additional half of the time added on) shall be made to cater for the
candidate.

23. Candidates would be told by the invigilators when to start


answering the questions. Candidates would be allowed a reading
time to check that the question paper is the correct one, all
questions are readable and there are no missing pages.

24. No communication whatsoever, between candidates, is


permitted during the examination. A candidate may attract the
attention of the invigilator by raising his/her hand.

25. As soon as the "STOP WORK" order is announced; candidates


are to stop writing.
Candidates should remain seated for their answer booklets to be
collected by the invigilator/invigilation assistant before they leave
the examination room. Candidates have the personal responsibility
of ensuring that their answer booklets are collected by the
invigilator/invigilation assistant.

26. At the end of each paper, candidates should ensure that


numbers of questions are entered in the order they have answered
in the space provided on the answer booklet.
All used supplementary sheets should be fastened before the last
page of the booklets.

27. At the end of each examination, candidates should not take


away any used or unused answer booklets or any material supplied
for the examination.

28. The examination question paper will only be allowed to be


taken out 15 minutes to the end of the examination.

29. No part of the answer booklet or question paper should be


torn by the candidate.

30. Candidates who go contrary, to the spirit and letter of these


examination rules and regulations may be dismissed from the
examination room/hall and their papers cancelled
