Guidelines For The Video Task
Use 8 different phrasal verbs for each requests Put away – pick up – clean up – hang up –
o Example: Would you mind turning the radio down? take off – take out – throw out – turn on –
o Example: Can you put the books away? turn off – let out – turn down
o Example: I was wondering if you could clean up your room next Saturday.
Make 5 different polite requests:
o Would you mind turning the radio down?
o Can you put the groceries away?
o Could you … ?
o Would you be able to …?
o I was wondering if you could clean up your room next Saturday.
Make 3 requests as commands:
o Pick your things up, please COMMAND = VERB + SUBJECT
o Throw away your old clothes (orden)
o Let out the dog
Make 4 responses using the ways of apologizing:
o Example: Ways of apologizing:
Would you mind turning the radio down? - I’m sorry I didn’t realize…
Response: I am sorry, I didn’t realize it was disturbing you. - I forgot I …
o Example: - I’ll do it right away …
I was wondering if you could clean up your room next Saturday. -I promise / I’ll make sure …
Response: Yes, I promise I’ll do it.
Make 4 responses using a simple form or a structure you like:
o Example:
Would you mind turning the radio down?
Response: Yes, of course
o Example:
I was wondering if you could clean up your room next Saturday.
Response: okay, I’ll do it.
o Example:
Would you be able to take the garbage out, please?
Response: yep, no biggie
TO BE CONSIDERED:
- Pronunciation is IMPORTANT ( if you are not sure about how to pronounce a word, ask me, a
dictionary, the internet or Google)
- Body language is IMPORTANT ( move around, DO NOT BE STATIC)
- Use OBJECTS to provide context ( books, radio, garbage, clothes, cellphone, etc)
- Work in your script IN CLASS so that you can be helped. ( points addition)
- Hand in your assignment on the day established: SEPTEMBER, 28TH. If not, points will be discounted.

Type of dialogue 1
Student 1: [ state the problem/complaint ] Student 2 is always leaving her clothing on the floor, I
can’t stand this situation anymore!
Student 1: [make the request] Hey! Would you mind putting your clothing away? I am tired of
doing it, it is your responsibility.
Student 2: shh, I am watching tv.
Student 1: Seriously ? [ look at student 2 angrily]
student 2: [response] okay, okay, I’ll make sure to do it after watching this movie.
student 1: You better do it!.
Type of dialogue 2
Student 1 [ state the problem/ complaint] I can’t concentrate, student 2 is listening to music
waaay to loud.
Student 1: [make the request] Student 2!! Would you be able to turn your music down? I can’t
concentrate.
Student 2: [ response] Okay, no biggie. [do the action of turning the music down]
Type of dialogue 3
Speaker 1: [state the problem/ complaint] I am tired of doing all the cleaning in this house, I won’t
do a thing from now on.
Speaker 2: Speaker 1 !!! don’t you see the kitchen is a mess
Spaker 1: and? Is it my duty to clean it?
Speaker 2: It should be.
Speaker 1: Nope, won’t do a thing from now on, [command/Request] you do it!
Speaker 2: do what?
Speaker 1: go and clean up the kitchen.
Spearker 2: Seriously? [say you have something else to do] I forgot I have to study so I won’t do it.
