Crochet pattern «Gingerbread Man»

Pattern of:
- gingerbread Man
- cap
- candy

This pattern does not include crochet and knitting


tutorials and requires basic skills.
MATERIALS:

1. Yarn:

- For the toy (main yarn) : 50%camel wool, 50%


acrylic yarn which weight is 100g/300m. You can use
any yarn with same weight.

- For blush: Yarn Art Jeans (50g/160m) or any


pink yarn with the same weight.

- For glaze, smile, eyebrows and eyes: YarnArt


Jeans (50g/160m) or any white yarn with the same
weight.

- For candy: YarnArt Jeans (50g/160m).

- For cap: Drops Alpaca Mix (50g/167m).

2. Hook: 1,15 mm (you can use hook of any size


which is comfortable for you)

3. 2 black beads for eyes: 4 mm


4. 2 buttons: 8-10 mm

5. Ribbon : 10 mm

6. Bell

7. Fiber filling, glass granulate

8. Big tapestry needle for sewing details together

9. Pins

10. Scissors

11. Stitch marker to mark the beginning of each


round (I use black thread)

12. Pastel crayons for toning the toy


ABBREVIATIONS:

ch – chain

Sl st – slip stitch

Sc – single crochet

inc – increase (2sc in one st)

dec – decrease (2 st together)

R- row/round

(..) – number of stitches in a round/row


()*… – repeat instructions in brackets … times
GINGERBREAD MAN

Body and head:

First leg:
Use main yarn.
1 R – 6sc in magic ring

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row

2 R – inc×6 (12)
3 R – (1sc, inc)×6 (18)
4-6 R – 18sc (3Rs)

Change yarn to white color:


7 – 18sc

Change yarn to main color:

8-14 R – 18sc (7Rs)


15 R - 4sc

Fasten off. Cut the yarn.


Second leg, body:

Repeat rows 1-15 of right leg.


Don`t fasten off. Join the legs with slip stitch.

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row.

16 R – 8sc around the first leg, dec, continue: 8sc


around the first leg, 8sc around the second leg, dec,
continue: 8sc around the second leg (34)

Decreases should be evenly on the sides of the toy.

17-18 R – 34sc (2 Rs)


19 R – 7sc, dec, 2sc, change yarn to white color:
12sc, change yarn to main color: 2sc, dec, 7sc (32)

Please make sure that white part is right in the


middle of the belly.
For your convenience, you can hide threads that
left during the color change by putting them inside
the stitches of next row.
20 R – 32sc

Continue to make decreases on the sides of the toy.


Crochet 7-8sc to move the beginning of the row, so
decreases would be evenly on the sides of the toy.
Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row.

Fill the body with glass granulate or other free-


flowing filler. The size of the granules should be
such that they do not fall out through the binding
(2-4mm). Stuff it as you go. Do not fill tightly.

Fill head with filler. The padding should not be too


tight, but at the same time, so that the shape at
the head holds.

55 R –6dec
Fasten off. Close hole. Hide yarn tail inside the
detail.
ARMS

Use main yarn.

1 R – 5sc in magic ring

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row

2 R – inc×5 (10)
3 R – (1sc, inc)×5 (15)
4-6 R – 15sc (3Rs)

Change yarn to white color:


7 R – 15sc

Change yarn to main color:


8-12 R – 15sc (5Rs)

Stuff arms with glass granulate. Do not fill the arm


too tightly to keep it flat.
Fold edges together and sc with 7 sc.
Fasten off. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for
assembly.
Make 2 details.
BLUSH

Use pink yarn.


1 R – 6sc in magic ring

Pull the working thread through the last loop of the


previous row to close the row into a circle. Cut the
yarn leaving a long tail for assembly.

Make 2 details.

CAP

Cap:

Use red yarn.


1 R – 6sc in magic ring

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row

2 R – inc×6 (12)
3-5 R – 12sc (3Rs)
6 R – (1sc, inc)×6 (18)
7-9 R – 18sc (3Rs)
10 R – (2sc, inc)×6 (24)
11-13 R – 24sc (3Rs)
14 R – (3sc, inc)×6 (30)
15-17 R – 30sc (3Rs)

Close the loop, cut and hide the thread.

Pompom on the cap:


Use white yarn.

1 R – 6sc in magic ring


2 R – inc×6 (12)
3 R - 6dec
Fasten off. Close hole. Leave long tail for assembly.

Sew the pompom to the cap, turn the edges of the


cap:
CANDY

Use white yarn.


1 R – 6sc in magic ring

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row


2R – 6sc

Change yarn to green color:


3-4 R – 6sc (2Rs)

Change yarn to white color:


5-6 R – 3sl sts, 3sc (2Rs)

Change yarn to green color:


7-8 R – 1sc, 3sl sts, 2sc (2Rs)

Change yarn to white color:


9-10 R – 2sc, 3sl sts, 1sc (2Rs)

Change yarn to green color:


11-12 R – 6sc (2Rs)
Change yarn to white color:
13-14 R – 6sc (2Rs)

Similarly, make 8 rows, changing the color of the


yarn every two rows.

Fasten off. Close hole.


ASSEMBLING

1. Sew arms on the sides of the body:

2. Sew on two buttons as shown in the photo:


3. Sew the blush to the face and embroider the
mouth between them with strokes.

4. Make an eye tightening - stretch the working


thread through the head in the place where the
eye should be located, and we stretch it back
through the adjacent hole. Tie the threads, hide
them. With this tightening, the head will
become flatter and take the shape of a cookie.
Do not overtighten.
5. Sew eyes to the head. Embroider eyes shadows
with white thread as shown on photo below.
Tone the toy with pastel crayons if needed.

6. Embroider eyebrows above the eyes

7. Embroider three stitches on each leg with


white thread.
8. Sew a cap on the head, a candy on the hand.
Tie a ribbon around the neck or hang a bell.
Congratulations, your gingerbread Man is ready!
