    A. Give 5 Successful Filipino Entrepreneurs and how they got started.

    1. John Gokongwei Jr. (J.G. Holdings)


    When his father died, however, the family fortune evaporated and he had to
    support his family by peddling goods from his bicycle in the streets of Cebu. He
    then began to trade by boat and truck until he began importing from the United
    States. he switched focus to manufacturing and borrowed PHP 500,000 from
    Chinabank to launch a maize milling company that is now known as Universal
    Corn Products.
    2. Henry Sy (Shoe Mart)
    Henry Sy grew up in Jinjang, Xiamen, China, in a low-income household. Due to
    the challenges in their home country, they moved to the Philippines in 1936 and
    opened a tiny convenience shop in Manila.
    3. Edgar Sia (Mang Inasal)
    Sia, who is native to Iloilo City, dropped out of college at the age of 19 to start his
    own laundry and photo-developing business. Sia, then 26 years old, decided to
    launch the fast-food restaurant Mang Inasal – meaning “Mr. Barbecue” in his
    native Hiligaynon – in 2003. In his hometown, the first branch was erected in a
    mall parking lot.
    4. Alfredo M Yao (Zest-O)
    Yao did a variety of odd jobs, including working at a printing machine. He learned
    how to print cellophane wrapping for candy and biscuits during his time there and
    was inspired to create his own printing company as a result of his experiences.
    5. Joe Magsaysay (Potato Corner)
    Potato Corner is a well-known food cart company in the United States. It was
    founded in 1990 by Joe Magsaysay, who dropped out of school to work at a fast-
    food restaurant. He was then offered the opportunity to become a manager; his
    store management abilities came in handy when he and a friend decided to open
    Potato Corner. He went on to become one of the Philippines’ most successful
    businesspeople.

    B. Give 5 Famous Entrepreneurs in the world and their success stories.

    1. MaryBeth Hyland- Founder of Spark Vision

    One of the most inspiring entrepreneur's stories is of MaryBeth Hyland. Hyland


    believes that all the ugly things she went through in life have helped her succeed.
    Her survival is an inspiration for all of us, especially because she uses her past
    experiences to connect with people. Spark Vision is a company that collaborates
    with other businesses and encourages them to maintain a collaborative office
    workplace, moving away from the toxic office culture.

    2. Eric Yuan – Founder of Zoom

    Without Zoom, can you imagine what quarantine would have been like, especially
    since businesses and schools have turned to the platform to carry out their day-
    to-day tasks and activities? However, once you find out how Zoom came into
    existence, you will be shocked. Today, 750,000 businesses use the platform to
    connect businesses via video and audio conferencing. He kept at it because he
    believed that he could do great things. Today, 750,000 companies use Zoom.
    During the era of the internet boom – mid-'90s- Eric Yuan entered the US from
    China. Yuan worked for a Silicon Valley communication startup initially, and by
    2012, he introduced Zoom to the world.

    3. John Paul DeJoria– Founder of Patron Spirits and House of Blues

    The one thing you might not is what these brands have in common. John Paul
    DeJoria is the mastermind behind both these companies, but he did not start off
    as a billionaire. In fact, his journey to success has been extremely difficult. Yet,
    he has managed to inspire millions and get his name included in the top stories of
    successful business entrepreneurs. Today he is a philanthropist who helps
    provide resources to homeless people and continues to fight for justice. He
    partnered with Paul Mitchell, and with a loan of $700, both of them went on to
    build an empire which is today famously known as John Paul Mitchell Systems.
    He went on to found Patron Spirits and co-founded the House of Blue chains. Yet,
    he has managed to inspire millions and get his name included in the top stories of
    successful business entrepreneurs.

    4. Jan Koum- Founder of WhatsApp

    Jan Koum, the founder of WhatsApp, comes from a small village in Ukraine. His
    family moved to California when he was young as they were unable to make ends
    meet. Koum started to read more about computers whenever he got time. His
    interest started to develop and by the age of 18, he had some brilliant skills
    computing skills. The legendary founder of WhatsApp has a successful
    entrepreneur's story because he was able to make the most of his circumstances.

    5. Pierre Omidyar- Founder of eBay

    Pierre Omidyar was a software developer who jumped from gig to gig. In 1995, he
    launched an auction website and named it Auction Web. The idea behind this was
    to get rid of the possessions that he did not use and were taking space in his
    house. To this day, eBay continues to dominate the market, even though several
    other enterprises have entered the market and are trying to compete with the
    initial auction website.
