    STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

    Ms-Research Solid Mechanics and Design, IIT Kanpur


    Name-Aditya Anil Savaji

    As I grew up into a teenager, the prospect of how the mechanisms of machines and
    mobile phones work fascinated me a lot. I chose the science field to feed my
    curiosity. When I was in high school, my inclination towards Maths and Physics made
    me choose Mechanical Engineer as a career.My interest in mechanical engineering
    was kindled when I took introductory courses in Basic Mechanics, Strength of
    Material, Theory Of Machines, and Design.

    My major project ‘Design and Manufacture self propelled Onion Harvestor’


    where we design Chassis (Frame Selection, Section selection, Member and Material
    Selection) and Transmisssion System (Design of Drive Train to achieve total
    reduction of 1:123) also Onion Harvesting mechanism.The main objective was
    providing affordable machinery that can optimize labour dependency with cost
    effective solution for onion harvesting.The project idea got selected ARISE
    LAUNCHPAD FOR AGRI SATRTUP 2019 INCUBATION PROGRAM also
    awarded with Krushimauli Innovation Award 2019.During my project work I was
    fascinated by the complexity involved in designing and manufacturing of various
    components.Also my exposure to software like Catia V5, Solidworks for
    modelling ,Ansys for stress analysis consolidated my interest.

    I am confident that the Ms-Research program in Solid Mechanics and Design offered
    at the IIT Kanpur will allow me in enhancing my understanding of the field to a great
    extent. I would like to work in the domain of ‘Engineering Computation and
    Machine Dynamics’. I strongly believe that the curriculum, professors, peer group
    make IIT Kanpur a melting pot of innovation and will allow me to apply my
    knowledge base and interest for research to bring to fruition the areas that I am
    passionate about.Also Research Eco system at IIT Kanpur will provide me unique
    research experience. I will able to learn from my peers, mentors and other students.
    The collaboration of different companies will also provide me industrial exposure. IIT
    Kanpur is one of India's premier institutions for research in science and engineering
    branches. Even in these difficult months of the COVID-19 pandemic, IIT Kanpur has
    joined the efforts by initiating key research and development projects on various
    aspects like Modeling for Covid Trajectory Prediction, Critical Treatment, Personal
    Protection and Primary Health Care. The contribution of this institute to India's
    research is massive also.

    After completing my studies at IIT Kanpur I plan to join the rapidly flourishing job
    market for professionals having expertise in advanced concepts related to Design
    across the globe. This degree will not only open professional paths but might also
    eventually enable me to build my own ways to success. I might also end up deploying
    my skillsets to new and innovative areas probably also strike out on the
    entrepreneurial path.
    I am fully aware of the fact that pursuing this course requires great enthusiasm and
    immense sacrifice However, I am confident that I can contribute to this realm of study
    with my hard work, dedication and passion for research. I hope that my credentials
    justify me as a suitable candidate for the Ms- Reasearch program in Solid Mechanics
    and Design at IIT Kanpur. If provided this opportunity, I assure to prove myself as an
    asset to the research community and produce some quality research work.
