Multi-Channel Spectrometer / LIBS System

Multi-Channel Spectrometer / LIBS System

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is an atomic emission spectroscopy, which can be used to analyze
almost all elements in solid-phase, liquid-phase and gas-phase matrixes qualitatively and quantitatively. In contrast to the
traditional detection methods such as ICP-OES or XRF, complicated sample preparation is not required in the detec-
tion process using LIBS. To this end, LIBS adopts high-energy focus pulsed laser beam to excite the samples to
plasma state and analyze the corresponding element emission spectrums. The wavelength of the element emission
spectrum is directly related to the element varieties, while the intensity of the spectral lines is related to the
content of the element. Through the study and calculation on the spectral lines, the characteristics and interior
components of samples can be explored.

LIBS System
Multi-Channel Spectrometer:

With its highly efficient external synchronous clock, the multi-channel spectrometer MX 2500+ perfectly coordinates
all channels for precise delay collections so that the complete atom spectral line signals can be collected accurately
when the atomic excitation radiation is highlighted. Meanwhile, MX 2500 can configure the number of the channels
and coverage of the spectrometer freely in a range of 180-1037nm upon the client's demands. And the efficient
clock with the system can perfectly synchronize all channels, which may further accurately trigger two external
devices. (Such as laser or microwave enhancement device)

Laser:

Nd:YAG laser is often used. The pulse width of the

laser generally in the order of nanosecond, which can
concentrate a large amount of energy on a tiny area in
a split second as the excitation source of the system,
may strip the trace substances on the surface of the
sample easily and excite the plasma.

Integrated Imaging Module:

A camera, an LED coaxial illumination system and

a laser coaxial light path are provided in the
module.
The user can directly focus visually on the real-
time image transmitted back by the camera, and
select the places of the sample to be bombarded
in the field of view, observing the changes in the
sample surface before and after the bombar-
dment.

Laser Safety:

When the door of the sample storehouse is open, the

laser is locked automatically to non-openable state to
ensure security. The storehouse door is integrated with
laser protection glass, which can completely isolate the
scattering damage of the 1064nm laser.

Optical Fiber Photoreceiving System:

Lens coupling method is used to photoreceive at short ranges

and in large areas so as to ensure the plasma luminescence is
coupled into the optical fiber to the maximum extent, thereby
improving the detection capability of the entire system. The lens can
protect the end faces of the optical fiber from pollution of the plasma so as
to prolong the service life of the optical fiber.

Integrated Air-Charging Unit:

The integrated air-charging unit can charge

inert gas into the sample platform in real-
time so as to form the inert gas atmosphere
in the vicinity of the samples and prolong
the service life of the plasma on the one
hand, and reduce the absorption of the air
to the spectral lines in vacuum ultraviolet
waveband on the other hand. A small
sample protection chamber with vvacuumi-
zing function can be provided optionally.

Three-Dimensional Sample Platform:

The integrated three-dimensional sample

platform facilitates the placement of multiple
samples by the uses, regulates the positions
and depths of laser bombardment on the
surface of the sample automatically and
accurately, and enables automatic focusing
and automatic sampling by scanning, all of
which greatly facilitate the testing and using
of users.

When powders, non-crystal and insulation
materials are analyzed, LIBS is the optimum
alternative to the spark direct-reading spectrometer.
LIBS exhibits the strong universality for the detection of materi-
als in various forms and properties. In contrast to the enormous
sampling point and damages to the sample by the spark direct-reading
spectrometer, a tiny laser point can detect the sample with small damages. With the
use of ocean optics LIBS sample storehouse, LIBS can help the users to analyze the area
array elements in different positions on the surface of the sample by scanning quickly.

Detection methods for different elements have different strengths and characteristics. The test can be
simple and quick with reasonable mix of equipment combination. MX2500+ LIBS draws on others suc-
cessful experiences and is qualified for the element detections in all fields.
