1 Product Introduction
T-Box is an electronic connectivity control unit which manage several Telematic services like
emergency call, breakdown call, information services, vehicle remote control, vehicle data collect,
remote diagnosis, anti-theft and etc.

T-Box provides voice and data communication between car passenger and the Telematic Service
Provider (TSP). It acts as a gateway (data router) for data transmission.
The main components of the T-Box consist of a cellular modem (2G/3G/4G), a GNSS module,
application and utility processors, memories (RAM and Flash), an embedded SIM, an internal
cellular antenna and a backup battery.

the product's factory-set state to suit the product market country as defined.

1.2 General Remark for Safe Operation

The product's operating safety is only ensured if the permissible conditions are maintained.

Voltage supply and grounding

First connect the T-Box cables. Make sure that the T-Box cables do not have any contact to
ground (earth, negative terminal of the vehicle battery). Observe the correct sequence when
connecting to /disconnecting from the vehicle's electrical system.

Connecting
Connect the antenna connector – Connect main connector (battery or external DC power source)
– Switch on the power supply.

Disconnecting

3 Product System overview and main feature

3.1 Product Main Feature

T-Box’s main responsibilities are listed below
 Ensure the correct transmission of the vehicle status
 Communicate with the TSP
 Gateway between the CAN network, Automotive ethernet network and the TSP.
 Responsible ECU for initiating breakdown call and customize emergency call , vehicle
remote control, remote diagnostic, anti-theft.
 Provide voice and data communication between vehicle driver / passengers

Therefore, the main design principle for T-Box should be

 Provide call service, which will collect and transmit emergency rescue or vehicle breakdown
related information to call centre.
 Provide data / media communication service between the vehicle ECUs and TSP

There are two major components for TBox system which is MCU and NAD.

MCU is controlling system power management, collect CAN data from system basic chip, handling
interface circuit (ignition on, crash in, audio mute and button control) and G-sensor.

NAD is processor for handling the 2G/3G/4G baseband module, ethernet communication with
vehicle ECU, store data inside eMMC, received GNSS module data and audio handling.

MCU and NAD are using UART protocol for communication.

9 Installation Requirement and guideline

1. No metallic object shall be closed to the T-Box to ensure cellular internal antenna
performance.

2. Dashboard or other enclosure shall not have metallic cover. Non-metallic material also cannot
be too close to the T-Box internal cellular antenna as the dielectric property of the material will
influence antenna performance.

3. Avoid placing the T-Box at location exposed to accident impact (based on vehicle anti-impact
analysis), to avoid T-Box damage during accident, especially the tumbling vehicle accident hit to
be deformed area.

4. When installing T-Box, all connector part must face down to prevent accumulation of water in
the concave area of the connector, connector located area not more than 90 degrees.

5. Ambient temperature of T-Box location is recommended to be same as standard temperature

in order to protect and extend battery life.

6. Due to the re-chargeable battery replacement concerned (typical suggested replacement

duration = 5 Years), hence location of T-Box must be able to be reach by technician for battery
replacement purposes.
