Chaos Warband
Chaos Warband
Chaos Warband
Origins: Once fervent members of the renegade faction in the Golden Exemplars, The
Forsaken Corruptors believed the Forge World, Helios V, had succumbed to corruption.
Feeling betrayed when loyalist elements from their old chapter sought to protect Helios during
the schism, they interpreted it as an act of betrayal. Their conviction led them to refuse the
offer of redemption from Archas Parnen. "Rescued" by Alpha Legion infiltrators, they
escaped in a voidcraft that was sabotaged, marooning them in the warp. There, the whispers
of chaos exploited their sense of betrayal, turning them into the traitorous warband they are
today.
Leadership: The charismatic and embittered Zaraq Korr, a former captain in the renegade
faction, emerged as the warlord of The Forsaken Corruptors. His personal sense of betrayal
and a thirst for vengeance against those who, in his eyes, abandoned Helios, fuels the
warband's dark endeavors. Over the years Zaraq slowly became more and more corrupted,
massing favours of the Ruinous Powers, until he achieved daemonhood, and became a
daemon prince.
Zaraq Korr's ultimate and malevolent act, the one that earned him Daemonhood, was
the cataclysmic event known as the Massacre of Krythos. This terrible deed not only
pleased the Ruinous Powers but also unleashed a surge of chaotic energy that rent the
fabric of reality itself.
1. Targeting Krythos:
o Zaraq, driven by a thirst for power and a desire to prove his dedication
to the Ruinous Powers, set his sights on the prosperous Imperial world
of Krythos. Its cities teemed with millions of innocent souls, oblivious
to the impending doom.
2. Warp Rift Invocation:
o Utilizing forbidden sorceries and dark rituals performed by his coven of
sorcerers, Zaraq opened a massive warp rift above the planet. The veil
between the material realm and the Immaterium thinned, allowing the
daemons of chaos to spill forth.
3. Unleashing Malgorthal:
o As the warp rift pulsated with dark energies, Zaraq invoked the name of
a greater daemon of Khorne, Malgorthal the Soul Devourer. The
malevolent entity, drawn by the devastation unfolding on Krythos,
manifested within the warp rift, eager to witness the impending
slaughter.
4. Massacre of Millions:
o Zaraq and his warband descended upon Krythos accompanied by lesser
daemons and cultists. They butchered, burned, and unleashed
unspeakable horrors upon the unsuspecting populace. Millions perished
in the most horrific ways imaginable, their psychic screams echoing in
the warp.
5. Soul Harvest for Malgorthal:
o In the midst of the slaughter, Zaraq orchestrated a macabre ritual to
harvest the souls of the dying. The psychic anguish of the victims
fueled the daemon’s power, and their collective suffering resonated
with the chaotic forces swirling around the warp rift.
6. The daemon's Ascendance:
o As the massacre reached its zenith, the daemon, fueled by the suffering
of Krythos, transcended the warp rift and materialized in the mortal
realm. The sky itself seemed to bleed with the unholy energies of the
daemon's presence.
7. Pact Sealed in Blood:
o With Krythos laid to waste and the daemon sated by the horror, the
stage was set for Zaraq’s ascendance. With a malevolent grin, Zaraq
started to read from an ancient book, that used to belong to the Word
Bearers. Having learned the daemon’s true name from a relic he found
on a daemon world, he used the book to start banishing the daemon’s
essence, which would meant the daemon is killed for good. (The relic is
a piece of armor from the past, when Malgorhtal was a mere mortal.
His true name was etched in the gorget of the broken armor plate.)
Zaraq offered the greater daemon a deal. He would not kill the daemon,
just banish it back to the warp, if it granted him access to the lesser
daemons, Malgorthal ruled over, to use them in a future attack against
the Gilded Revenants fortress station, the Solar Bastion. Malgorthal,
terrified by the possibility of vanishing forever, accepted the deal.
Zaraq did keep his word, however, before banishing Malgorthal, he
tortured his essence for days. The brutal torture of a greater daemon of
Khorne got Slaanesh’s attention, who granted Zaraq the infernal gift of
Daemon Princehood. To ascend, Zaraq pledged an eternal allegiance in
blood. His new name bacame: Zar’qur
8. Closing the Warp Rift:
o Malgorthal, now banished back to the warp, swore not to forget, what
Zaraq did, and promised retribution. Zaraq laughed, because he already
knew the name of the daemon, and he became more powerful than ever
before. The cataclysmic event left Krythos in ruins, its once-thriving
cities reduced to ash and echoes of despair.
Zaraq Korr, now a Daemon Prince, stood amidst the desolation of Krythos, a living
monument to the terror he had unleashed. The Massacre of Krythos not only achieved
Zaraq’s the daemonhood he desired, but also etched the name of Zaraq Korr into the
annals of chaos as a harbinger of unfathomable destruction.
Homeworld: The Forsaken Corruptors operate from a twisted and desolate Daemon World
known as Umbra's Despair. Here, the boundaries between the material realm and the warp are
thin, allowing the warband to harness chaotic energies for their dark rituals and twisted
experiments.
Symbol: Their symbol is a stylized eclipse, representing the shadow that has fallen over their
once-loyal hearts. It signifies both their betrayal of the Golden Exemplars' ideals and the dark
influence that now guides their every action.
Warband Traits:
1. Chaotic Vendetta: The warband harbors an obsessive vendetta against those they
perceive as traitors, seeking to destroy any remnants of their loyalist past.
2. Warp-touched Mutations: Embracing the gifts of chaos, many members of The
Forsaken Corruptors exhibit grotesque mutations that enhance their combat prowess
and serve as physical manifestations of their corrupted loyalty.
3. Massed Cultists - Some Warbands field incredibly large numbers of Chaos Cultists,
using them as meat-shields, slave armies or onslaught troops. They are mainly used to
draw the enemy's fire while taking as many of the enemy as they can with them, while
the Chaos Space Marines handle the more important tasks, and reap the greater glory
of battle.
4. Daemonic Assault - Some Warbands who have enough power in the Warp favour an
all out assault utilizing mass numbers of Daemons. With cackling Daemonettes
prancing through the enemy while roaring Bloodletters hack through them, many
enemies drop their weapons and flee rather than face such horrors.
5. Embrace Corruption - The Warband embraces the touch of Chaos and welcomes
mutants, possessed and the deformed into their ranks. Hating purity they seek to
remove themselves from their common human forms and become something unique,
as every mutant is different.
Orderly Warband - An orderly Warband is one that keeps a clear system in use for its organisation.
Squads and their leaders are kept active and some may use a system of grand companies to organize
large numbers of troops. Though some may follow a more Chaos-oriented path than an Imperial
version, such as the Word Bearers large numbers of Possessed Marines.
The massed cultists accompanying the Forsaken Corruptors are a motley and wretched horde,
drawn from the fringes of the Imperium and corrupted by the seductive whispers of Chaos.
Assembled for the singular purpose of serving their malevolent masters, these twisted souls
form a legion of the forsaken, a seething mass eager to sow anarchy and discord in the wake
of the Forsaken Corruptors' advance.
1. Innumerable Horde:
o The legion of cultists is a seemingly endless tide of bodies, a congregation of
lost souls clad in tattered robes and adorned with blasphemous symbols. Their
numbers, vast and unwieldy, serve as a living shield to absorb the wrath of
their enemies, allowing the Chaos Space Marines to maneuver with greater
impunity.
2. Twisted Devotion:
o Each cultist within the legion bears the mark of their forsaken allegiance –
daemonic sigils, chaotic runes, and mutations that speak of their unholy
transformation. Their devotion to the dark powers is evident in their frenzied
eyes and twisted expressions, fueled by a fervor born from despair and the
promise of twisted salvation.
3. Weaponry of Desperation:
o Armed with a haphazard collection of scavenged weaponry, the cultists wield
autoguns, lasguns, and improvised close combat weapons. Their armaments
are a reflection of desperation, but their sheer numbers ensure that even the
most primitive weapons can unleash a storm of firepower.
4. Human Shields:
o The Heralds of Zar’qur advances with a grim determination, knowing that their
existence serves as a disposable shield for their Chaos Space Marine overlords.
Their willingness to be thrust into the heart of battle, knowing their lives are
expendable, speaks to the depths of their indoctrination and the promise of a
chaotic afterlife.
5. Chanting the Hymns of Chaos:
o As the legion marches to war, their voices rise in unholy hymns dedicated to
the Chaos Gods. The cacophony of their chanting, a discordant symphony of
madness, serves to drown out the screams of the dying and heighten the
chaotic aura that envelopes the forsaken cultists.
6. Frenzied Onslaught:
o In battle, The Heralds of Zar’qur charges with a reckless abandon, heedless of
their own mortality. Their frenzied onslaught is directed by the unseen
whispers of the warp, urging them to throw themselves into the teeth of the
enemy, creating a macabre dance of death and destruction.
7. Marked by Mutations:
o Exposure to the chaotic energies of their malevolent masters has left its mark
on the cultists. Mutations and physical deformities manifest among them, a
testament to their willing embrace of the Warp's capricious gifts. Some grow
additional limbs, while others bear daemonic features that mark them as
chosen vessels of Chaos.
8. Cannon Fodder of the Abyss:
o The forsaken cultists, though considered expendable, possess a grim
determination to prove themselves in the eyes of their dark patrons. They
willingly throw themselves into the maw of battle, seeking to earn favor in the
twisted hierarchy of Chaos and ascend to a higher plane of existence.
