Q.5 (a) The mean produce of wheal of sample of 100 fields is 200 lb. per acre with a 03
standard deviation of 10 lb. Another sample of 150 fields gives the mean at
220 with a standard deviation of 12 lb. Assuming the standard deviation of the
mean field at 1 lb of the universe. Find at 1% level if the two results are
consistent.
(b) The life time of electric bulbs for a random sample of 10 from a large 04
consignment are selected. The mean life is 4.4 and standard deviation is 0.589.
Can we accept the hypothesis that the average life item of bulbs is 4000 hours
with 95% significant level? (t0.05=2.262)
(c) TATA is about to introduce a new products. One unit of product is produced 07
by assembling 1 unit of product-1 and 1 unit of product-2. Before production
begins on either product-1 or 2, raw materials must be purchased and workers
must be trained. Before product-1 and 2 can be assembled into product-3, the
finished product-2 must be inspected. A list of activities and their predecessors
and of the duration of each activity is given in below table:

Q.5 (a) The mean life of a sample of 10 electric light bulbs was found to be 1456 hours 03
with standard deviation of 423 hours. A second sample of 17 bulbs chosen
from a different batch showed a mean life of 1280 hours with standard
deviation of 398 hours. Is there 95% significant difference between the mean
of the two samples? (t0.05=2.06)
(b) 200 digits are chosen at random from a set of tables. The frequencies of the 04
digits are as follows:

Use 𝜒 test to assess the correctness of the hypothesis that the digits were
distributed in equal numbers in the tables from which they were chosen.
