Guidance
Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module
name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the
appendices if relevant; and a reference list in AU Harvard system(s). You should address all
the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the
assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates
anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the
student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.
Maximum word count: 3,500 words equivalent (see tasks for further guidance)
Please refer to the full word count policy which can be found in the Student Policies section
here: Arden University | Regulatory Framework
Students are required to indicate the exact word count on the title page of the assessment.
The word count includes everything in the main body of the assessment (including in text
citations and references). The word count excludes numerical data in tables, figures,
diagrams, footnotes, reference list and appendices. ALL other printed words ARE
included in the word count.
Please note that exceeding the word count by over 10% will result in a 10-percentage point
deduction.

Assignment Task (LOs: 3 - 7)
This assessment is worth 60% of the overall marks for this module.
Being able to communicate the outcomes of data analysis is potentially more important than
being able to carry out the analysis in the first place. As data becomes increasingly widely
used within organisations, there is a growing need to be able to communicate the outcomes
of the analysis to people who may not fully understand the content. Visualising the data in an
informative and effective way is essential in communicating these ideas.
In this assessment, you will have the opportunity to present the data from a given dataset in
the form of an A0 poster and a written presentation deck (with speakers notes).
Before submitting your poster and presentation deck you will need to present your work and
carry out the critique task:
Please note, that the presentations will take place approximately 10 days before the
final submission deadline. The date and time of your presentation will be provided by your
tutor beforehand. Once you have given your presentation (your 10 mins talk), you will be
required to send both the poster and the presentation deck (with speakers notes) to your
tutor (via email), so that you can receive a poster and a written presentation deck of another
peer to perform the critique task (part 2 of the assignment).
If your poster and written presentation Deck have not received by your tutor at the end
of your presentation day (UK time), you will not be given one of your peers work to
critique it and will not be able to carry part 2 of the assignment.
You are required to upload the poster and the written presentation deck (with speakers
notes) as one document, to the portal on ilearn, any time before the final deadline for the
module submission.

Question 1
A large group of education providers wish to improve the way that they use email. A survey
has been undertaken to understand the email usage habits within the group. You have been
tasked with creating a poster presentation for senior management to help justify the
development of a new training plan to improve email use.
Prepare an A0 poster for the dataset “Emailsurvey.sav” (You will require SPSS to analyse
this data file, if you have not already downloaded the package as part of an earlier module
please see the instruction file that accompanies this assessment) using the guidance above.
You will then be required to present your poster during a 10-minute Adobe presentation to
highlight the key points of your poster. Details on how to access the presentation session will
be sent to you closer to the time.

Formative Feedback
You have the opportunity to submit your poster to receive formative feedback.
The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop
your skills as an independent learner.
If you are a distance learning student, you should submit your work, by email, to your tutor, no
later than 2 weeks before the actual submission deadline. If you are a blended learning student,
your tutor will give you a deadline for formative feedback and further details.
Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date or the date specified
by your tutor - if a blended learning student.
Referencing Guidance
You MUST underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with appropriate and
wide ranging academic research and ensure this is referenced using the AU Harvard
system.

new submission is named exactly the same as the previous in order for the system to
overwrite it.
You must ensure that the submitted assignment is all your own work and that all sources

Assessment Criteria (Learning objectives covered - all)
Level 7 is characterised by an expectation of students’ expertise in their specialism. Students are semi-autonomous, demonstrating independence in the
negotiation of assessment tasks (including the major project) and the ability to evaluate, challenge, modify and develop theory and practice. Students are expected
to demonstrate an ability to isolate and focus on the significant features of problems and to offer synthetic and coherent solutions, with some students producing
original or innovative work in their specialism that is potentially worthy of publication by Arden University. A clear appreciation of ethical considerations (as
appropriate) is also a prerequisite.
