A: Just a few more weeks until graduation. How are your classes going?
B: Oh, pretty well, I guess. I’m not doing very well in Spanish. But I’m getting mostly A’s
and B’s in my other classes.
A: That’s great. What are your plans after you graduate?
B: I’m not exactly sure yet. I know I want to do some kind of design. But I can’t decide if I
want to be a graphic designer or a fashion designer.
A: Wow! Aren’t they both really different jobs?
B: Well, yes, in a way, I guess. But you can learn about fashion or graphic design after you
get the job. The thing is, you need to be creative if you want to be a designer.
A: Well, you are one of the most creative people I know.
B: Gee, thanks. Now the big thing is, I need to look around for some good companies.
A: What are you looking for in a company?
B: Hmm... I know I need to work long hours at first and my salary may not be very good.
But I really need something near my home. Location is really important to me.
A: Well, good luck!
B: Thanks.
Part 1
A: Hello?
B: Hey, Susan. It’s me—Jeremy. What are you doing?
A: Oh, hi, Jeremy! Nothing much. Just watching TV.
B: I’m downtown shopping now... but I’m almost finished. Do you have any plans later?
A: Umm… no. Not really. What’s up?
B: There’s a new comedy playing at the Lido Theater. Do you want to see it with me? It
starts at three.
A: Uh, OK... Sounds good. Let me get ready. I can meet you at two-thirty at the coffee shop
across the street from the theater.
B: Great. See you later.
Part 2
A: Oh, gosh! I’m really sorry I’m late. I couldn’t find my car keys.
B: No problem. There’s still time. I already bought the tickets.
A: Oh great. Do you have time to buy popcorn?
B: Sure.
A: By the way, what’s the name of the movie we’re seeing?
B: It’s called Horse on Fire.
A: Oh, no! I saw it last night!
A: I was watching TV last night when I saw a really interesting story on the news. It was
about a woman who won ten million dollars.
B: Yeah? What did she do with the money?
A: She decided to keep her job at a fast food restaurant and put the money in a bank account
for her children.
B: Really? That’s crazy! Why does she want to work, when she has so much money?
A: She’s still young. She wants to save the money for her family. She wants to keep it for
when she gets older. I kind of agree with her.
B: Really? I don’t feel that way at all.
A: Well, what would you do if you won ten million dollars?
B: Me? Well, the first thing I would do is quit my job! Then I would travel all over the
world. I would buy a big house and enjoy my life.
A: That sounds like fun. But I’m not sure I would do the same. I think I agree with the
woman. I would keep my job. I like my job.
B: So you wouldn’t spend any of the money?
A: Well… I might buy just one little sports car for myself!
