She likes singing and dancing and all that artistic stuff.

B: We just had Thai food the other day. How about something more exotic? How about
something like Moroccan food? I love Moroccan food!
A: I’ve never tried Moroccan food. So… there’s no way I can cook it!
B: Really? You’ve never tried Moroccan food? You have to try it. It’s delicious.
A: OK. But I still can’t cook it.
B: Then why don’t we go out tonight?

Speak Now 2. Quiz 3: Lessons 9–12. Listening.

A: What’s the matter? You don’t look so good.

B: Oh, it’s nothing serious. I just have a sore back.
A: What happened?
B: I was doing chores at home all weekend. I rearranged the furniture, and I think I climbed
too many stairs.
A: Oh, no. Did you see a doctor?
B: No, I didn’t. I don’t think it’s serious. I just need some rest.
A: Well, I don’t think you should ignore it, if it hurts. Go see a doctor.
B: Yeah. I guess you’re right. Maybe I should see a doctor. So, anyway, what did you do this
weekend?
A: I had a great weekend. I went skiing with my friends. We had a great time.
B: That sounds like a lot more fun than my weekend.
A: Yeah. Have you ever been skiing?
B: No, but I’d love to try it. I think it would be really exciting.
A: Oh, it is! I love outdoor activities, and skiing is the most exciting one I know. We’re
going again next week. You should come with us.

QUIZ 4: LESSONS 13–16

Speak Now 2. Quiz 4: Lessons 13–16. Listening.

A: Just a few more weeks until graduation. How are your classes going?
B: Oh, pretty well, I guess. I’m not doing very well in Spanish. But I’m getting mostly A’s
and B’s in my other classes.
A: That’s great. What are your plans after you graduate?
B: I’m not exactly sure yet. I know I want to do some kind of design. But I can’t decide if I
want to be a graphic designer or a fashion designer.
A: Wow! Aren’t they both really different jobs?
B: Well, yes, in a way, I guess. But you can learn about fashion or graphic design after you
get the job. The thing is, you need to be creative if you want to be a designer.
A: Well, you are one of the most creative people I know.
B: Gee, thanks. Now the big thing is, I need to look around for some good companies.
A: What are you looking for in a company?
B: Hmm... I know I need to work long hours at first and my salary may not be very good.
But I really need something near my home. Location is really important to me.
A: Well, good luck!
B: Thanks.

A: What do you think of this dress?

B: Um…it’s OK. But I prefer you in a different color.
A: Really?
B: Yes... Here. What about this one?
A: Nah...Can I ask you something? What do you usually wear on a job interview?
B: Well, I guess it depends. But you know me—I like comfort. My clothes are pretty casual.
I guess I usually wear a nice skirt with a nice shirt, and a pair of nice shoes or something.
Why? Does someone have an interview?
A: Well, uh… yeah. Actually, I do. Tomorrow.
B: OK, then. Let’s find something for you to wear.
A: Hey, how about that dress over there? Could you pass it to me?

Go behind the curtains and try it on.
A: Ta-da! What do you think?
B: It’s perfect! But did you check the weather for tomorrow? I think it’s supposed to rain.

Speak Now 2. Quiz 8: Lessons 29–32. Listening.

A: I was watching TV last night when I saw a really interesting story on the news. It was
about a woman who won ten million dollars.
B: Yeah? What did she do with the money?
A: She decided to keep her job at a fast food restaurant and put the money in a bank account
for her children.
B: Really? That’s crazy! Why does she want to work, when she has so much money?
A: She’s still young. She wants to save the money for her family. She wants to keep it for
when she gets older. I kind of agree with her.
B: Really? I don’t feel that way at all.
A: Well, what would you do if you won ten million dollars?
B: Me? Well, the first thing I would do is quit my job! Then I would travel all over the
world. I would buy a big house and enjoy my life.
A: That sounds like fun. But I’m not sure I would do the same. I think I agree with the
woman. I would keep my job. I like my job.
B: So you wouldn’t spend any of the money?
A: Well… I might buy just one little sports car for myself!
