Climate change

Climate change refers to the change in the environmental conditions of the earth
and can be caused by various activities. When temperature rises, many different
changes can occur on earth. For example, change in climate can result in more
floods, droughts, or intense rain, as well as frequent and severe heat waves.
These climatic changes are having various impacts on the ecosystem and ecology.
As a result of these changes a number of species and animals have gone extinct.

During the past century, human activities have released large amounts of carbon
dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Most of the gases come
from burning fossil fuels to produce energy. Greenhouse gases are like a blanket
around the Earth, trapping energy in the atmosphere and causing it to warm. This
is called the greenhouse effect and it is natural and necessary to support life on
earth. However, while greenhouse gases build-up, the climate changes and result
in dangerous effects to human health and ecosystems. People have adapted to
the stable climate we have enjoyed since the last ice age which ended several
thousand years ago. A warmer climate can bring changes that can affect our
water supplies, living style, power and transportation systems, the natural
environment, and even our own health and safety. There are some climate
changes that are unavoidable, and nothing can be done about it. For example,
carbon dioxide can stay in the atmosphere for nearly a century, so Earth will
continue to warm in the future. The image below shows the temperature rise
since 1850.
So what are The causes of climate change?
Using transportation
Most cars, lorries, ships and planes run on fossil fuels. That makes
transportation a major contributor to the greenhouse gases (gases
that have an influence on the earths energy balance).

Manufacturing goods
Manufacturing and industry produce emissions, mostly from
burning fossil fuels to produce energy for making things like
cement, iron steel and many other goods.

Generating power
Generating electricity and heat by burning fossil fuels such as coal,
oil and natural gas causes a large chunk of global emissions.

There are also many more.

If you are wondering why are people not doing anything about all of this, well
they are.COP(conference of the parties)is An event that happens each year
bringing together leaders from all countries in the world to agree on how to step
up global action to solve the climate crisis. They come up with possible solutions
for climate change such as:
Keeping fossil fuels in the ground. Fossil fuels include coal, oil and gas – and the
more that are extracted and burned, the worse climate change will get. All
countries need to move their economies away from fossil fuels as soon as
possible.

Investing in renewable energy. Changing our main energy sources to clean and
renewable energy is the best way to stop using fossil fuels. These include
technologies like solar, wind, wave, tidal and geothermal power.

Switching to sustainable transport. Petrol and diesel vehicles, planes and ships
use fossil fuels. Reducing car use, switching to electric vehicles and minimising
plane travel will not only help stop climate change, but it will also reduce air
pollution too.

And many more. these are the steps that we must take to defend our climate and
be stewards because if this continues things won’t be so good for us.

In conclusion, we need to take part and try to stop global warming and other
effects on climate change. If the earth’s temperatures continue to rise in the
future, living things on earth would become extinct due to the high temperatures.
If humans contribute to control global warming, this world would be cooler and
the high temperatures we currently have would decrease. If everybody as one
take stand and try to end most of the climate changes that are occurring, this
world would be a safer place to live on.
