Each product has its own price–per–unit–volume (PPUV) display. Only one hose per dispenser side
can be active at a time. The Premier dispenser is available in a high hose cabinet with remote pump
fuel delivery, and can operate as stand alone or with console control. If a Dispenser Payment
Terminal (DPT) is not installed, instructional customer prompts display on the main display to guide
customers through their fuel sale.
Electronic Blend & Electronic Variable Blenders (EB, B3, B4, and B5)
The Electronic Blend & Variable Blenders have software which allows the blending ratio to be
configured through dispenser programming and can be altered by those with proper security access.
The EB consists of two straight-grade products that may be dispensed and blended at the
programmed ratio to produce an additional SINGLE mid-octane product. The Variable Blenders, B3,
B4, and B5, are all single-hosed dispensers which blend two straight-grade products to produce three
(B3), four (B4), or five (B5) blended products.

MODES OF OPERATION
All Premier dispensers have two general modes of operation, and each can be selected by the use of
the manager key:
• Operating mode
• Programming mode
-Allows the programmer to initialize and set software selectable choices for
dispenser operation.
-The choices, as viewed on the various displays of the dispenser, are discussed
in section 4, Programming.
SCOPE
This section contains information on starting the dispenser for the first time,
initial programming procedures, checking calibration of the dispenser, routine
start-up, and running the dispenser on battery power.
Access to circuit boards should be performed by a trained Tokheim Authorized Service Representative only.
On Premier series dispensers it is important that the CPU board is properly set up prior to dispenser
power up. Setting up the CPU board requires the following steps:
1. Remove all power to the dispenser (more than one disconnect may be required).
2. Identify side A (side with the serial plate).
3. Unlock the right panel and remove it (on 45" models only).
4. At the upper left corner of this opening, push the slide left to release the display
section of the dial.
5. Pull and raise the display frame.
– If a product selection keypad is installed on the dispenser, hold onto the
display while disconnecting the product selection keypad.
6. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, either rotate the top corner fasteners 1/4 turn
counter-clockwise or on some models, remove two #8 screws.
7. Hold the display and gently lower it.
8. The card cage is visible now.

• The dispenser will display the last sales data and the displays will
remain on until the time-out period for the battery backup has been
reached (battery backup timer is set in manager mode F25). See
‘Battery operation’ below.
This power up procedure will demonstrate how to turn the dispenser on after the station parameters
and dispenser programming have already been completed.
1. Be certain that the dispenser is properly installed and is prepared for power
to be placed to the dispenser.
2. Simply turn AC power on to the dispenser making certain that the card cage
power supply, the options power supply and the MaxVac power supply
switches (if applicable) are on. Refer to the illustration on page 3-5 for the
location of power switches.
Battery operation
The lead acid battery has the ability to power the displays in the event of an AC power failure. The
displays will remain on for the period of time set in manager mode F25. Without AC power the
dispenser cannot dispense fuel.
Section 4 – PROGRAMMING
SCOPE
This section contains the information necessary to program all the Premier
series dispensers. Programming is accomplished in the “manager modes”.
The Manager Modes contain the software functions that can be set or changed
to enable the dispenser to operate with the desired options and setups.
When initially starting the dispenser there are certain minimum procedures that
must be followed. See “Initial start up” in section 3 for initial set up and
programming information.

Mode F96 - Display dispenser error, state, and termination code histories (cont.)
Error history is a file (in memory) that keeps track of errors as they occur. If, for example, an err 05 is
displayed by the dispenser, the ‘05’ is stored in the error history file. The most recent error put into the file
is always history number 00. Any errors that were already in the file have their history number incremented
by one (up to 15) as each new error is put into the file. See the Error history example below. Definitions of
error codes can be found in Section 5.
State history is a file (in memory) that keeps track of state conditions the dispenser goes through. Each state
the dispenser goes through (idle, dispensing, halted, etc.) has a code number (a chart is on the next page). The
state codes are viewed by selecting the history number desired. The most recent state code put into the file
is always history number 00. The state code which was put into the file before that is 01, and so on up to 63
previous entries. See the State history example at the bottom of this page.
Termination Code history works the same as State history does but keeps track of sale terminations.

SCOPE
This section contains the information necessary to operate and dispense fuel from
the Premier series dispensers and DPTs (Dispenser Payment Terminals).
Additionally, at the end of this section is a listing of error codes. If error codes
appear on your dispenser display, refer to the chart at the end of this section to
remedy the problem.
There are certain minimum requirements that must be followed to initially start
the dispenser. See Section 3 for “First time start-up”.
• Key arming
This is selected by setting mode F19 to 1 (console operation) or 3 (stand alone
operation). When set for key arming, the arming key must be held to the
keyswitch after the completion of a sale before the next sale can begin.
See page 2-7 for more information on the arming key.
How to use
The arming key must be held to the keyswitch. When the dispenser is key
armed :
• A short tone will sound.
• The money and volume displays are set to 0.00 and 0.000,
respectively.
If the attendant leaves the arming key on the keyswitch for more than 1 second:
• Two short tones will be heard.
• The dispenser will be disarmed and will not allow a sale.
• The money and volume displays remain set to zero.
PRESET SALES
• Mode F24 must be set to allow presets
• The dispenser must be in RUN mode
• Press the PRESET keybutton, listen for a beep
• Enter the desired preset amount by using the operator interface
keypad ($10 = 1, 0, 0, 0)
• Make corrections by using the CLEAR keybutton.
• Press START or a MOP (cash or credit) keybutton to dispense
the fuel
• Preset amounts can be sent to the dispenser by the console
• Presets amounts are limited by the maximum delivery amount
programmed for the dispenser
Lift Lever to Start: If a lift lever action is active, the customer must lift the lever before a sale can start. Once the
lever is lifted, the money and volume displays change to dashes. This is programmed in mode F27.
Octane button: Used by the customer to select which grade of fuel to purchase. When pressed, the selected
product will display its ppuv (price per unit volume) value. All other ppuv windows will change to dashes.
Segment Check: A display check the dispenser goes through before allowing a sale to start. One result is the
money and volume displays change from dashes to zeros.
To download prices, the console must have the appropriate software version. All
downloads will occur after a price change is performed at the console and:
– The dispenser is – The nozzle is out of the
idle or boot and mode F25 is set
so the dispenser will
accept a price change
under these circumstances
In a case where the dispenser has not recognized a price change, enter the manager mode
on the dispenser, then return back to the run mode. This will request the parameters to
download from the console.
When the prices are properly downloaded, a long tone sounds and all the cash/credit ppuv
displays blink for 5 seconds to alert the customer that changes have occurred.
The console sends out the prices, maximum delivery, and slow flow offset (if
set on the CPU board dip switch #7 for console control) information each time a
hose is approved. Only maximum delivery and slow flow offset values will
change at the dispenser. Prices will not change on the dispenser. Prices are
only used as a comparison to be sure that the console and dispenser agree. If
they agree, the sale will continue. If they disagree, the system will need to go
through the downloading procedure as described above.
If the “Blender type” in Mode 26 is set to 1, the blend ratios will also be
compared to be sure the console and dispenser agree. If they agree, the sale will
continue. If they disagree, error code 26 will be displayed at the dispenser. The
ratio will need to be changed at either the console or the dispenser.
