• Self-esteem is the way we perceive and value ourselves
• it's the opinion we hold of ourselves.
• Your self-esteem develops and changes with:
• Life experiences
• Childhood
• Interaction with other people.
• bullied
• didn't fit in at school
• neglected or abused
• difficulty meeting your parents' expectations
• experienced authority figures who were disapproving
• criticized a lot in childhood lead your opinion “ I’m not good enough”
• 2. Practice self-acceptance
• Becoming more accepting of yourself helps you to feel OK about yourself
• Everyone makes mistakes.
• When you practice self-acceptance you can:
• acknowledge that mistakes are part of learning
• 3. Step up your self-care
• Try to schedule self-care into your diary and challenge yourself to prioritise it.
• The act of taking care of yourself can help to reinforce that you are worthy
and deserving of care which can improve self-esteem.
• 4. Challenge yourself
• Taking small steps outside of your comfort zone can feel very hard, but once
you see that you can do it, you gather evidence that will boost your self-
esteem
• Try something very small at first and remember to celebrate every single win.
• You may also find it helpful to reflect on past achievements and make a note
of them somewhere.
• 5. Use positive affirmations
• ‘I am perfectly capable of doing ….’
