Bhavik and Ratul were two students studying hotel management course in a
city college. They were from a metropolitan city Kolkata and Pune
respectively. They becamé good friends during the course of education.
Bhavik hailed from upper class family with his parents in influential
government jobs. Ratul hailed from a lower middle class family with his
single parents, which means his mother depend on farming for livelihood.
They both shared a long àmbition to become successful in their life
working independently. They both were intelligent and were creative
compared to others and both were intent on starting a restaurant in one of
their respective places by the name Khana Khazana. Bhavik was against the
idea of Ratul starting her clinic in a Pune. He felt that people of Pune
already have so many options of restáurants that they won't explore new
one. Bhavik had a strong view that people of Pune are more into fast food
as majority of the population of Pune are out-station students and the
concept which they have for th¹ir restauránt whiçh is homemade food
won't be accepted by the population ofPune. But Ratul was strong in his
view that because his crowd in youth and most are awây from home so they
will love to have homemade food.

Q.8 CASE STUDY:

Mr Rohit has just completed MBA from a reputed B-school and has
been offered o job in an MNC with an attractive salary package. However,
he has been in a dilemma as to whether to accept the offer or not. It has
been a dream from childhood to start and business and become a successful
enireprcneur. But, organizing the capital a runiing aroutid for setting
various mandatory clearancs were the area of concern for him. His parents
also tried to advice him to accept the offer and start a job in MNC.
However he has been feeling from the day of his campus interview that he
is been detained to do bigger things in life.
After consulting the professors and successful entrepreneurs he decided
not to accept the job offer and instead decided to venture into a business of
his own. Consequently he started mini café with the USP of "Traditional
and Homely Taste". Initially he could maintain the quality and price. But
over the time Mr. Rohit realized that his profit started decreasing due to
reduced vo lume of sales. This has been realized by Mr. Rohit and after
some time started thinking of diversifying the business. Further, he has also
understood that the main reason for reduced volume of sales as, very less
number ofbarriers to enter into business.

Rural crafts and metal handicrafts held a special appeal for her. Many times she had
thought of doing some business in handcrafts. But so far the only outlet for her creative urge
was to participate in annual exhibitions, organized by NGOs. Winning prize and
appreciation increased her interested in crafts. At one such exhibition Mrs. Kavitha came in
to contact with an American interested in artificial Jewellary, Mrs Kavitha, got these
fabricated through local Business, and showed them to the American customer, who was
highly appreciative subsequently, an arrangement was made to book a few consignments to
