Sir
Subject: Need for people’s movement for a clean Yamuna

As an aware citizen, I, Radha G, member of NGO AWAAZ wish to highlight the deteriorating
condition of river Yamuna. The city of Delhi is getting contaminated water from river Yamuna. The
residents are to be blamed for this. They pollute the river with garbage, sewage and filth. The
river water is full of bacteria, plastic, chemicals and other waste materials. It is unfit for
consumption.
The people have been demanding a Water Treatment plant but they don’t realise that such
programmes are possible when the government gets the whole hearted support of its citizens. We
need to understand that our household as well as industrial waste need to be treated and not let
out freely in these rivers.
I request you to highlight the problem in the columns of your esteemed newspaper and arouse
public interest. The authorities have not yet responded to the repeated requests. So, your
involvement in this matter will awaken the concerned authorities. We all need to get together in
order to get the plant set up in the area.
Thanking you

Yours truly

Sir
Subject: Accidents due to open manholes
As an aware resident of the city, kindly allow me to air through your columns one grave hazard
being faced by the residents of the Emerald Apartments. The main road leading to this colony has
three manholes that have no cover over them. They remain open all through the day and night.
As a result, there have been frequent accidents, particularly during the dark nights. It is winter
these days and the road gets enveloped in darkness after seven in the evenings. The entire area
gives a ghastly look.
The residents of the area have approached the Municipal Corporation time and again but nothing
has been done so far. It is hoped that these lines would stir the authorities to some sort of action.
The manholes need to be covered immediately, and proper lighting arrangements should be made
along the sides of the road.
Realising that the pen is mightier than the sword, I request to publish this letter in the columns of
your esteemed newspaper so as to awaken the concerned authorities and end the problems being
faced by the society members. Also publish your views about the grievances of the masses.
Thanking you
Yours truly
Udit/Trisha
