Please tell us about your background, who you are, your friends, your family and your
My name is Beatriz, and I live in Cotia, São Paulo, a charming town slightly removed from the
bustling big city. Growing up in a quieter area has always been something I appreciated.
I consider myself a very communicative, proactive, and empathetic person. My Christian faith
(baptist) is an important part of who I am. I enjoy helping those in need and always strive to
make a positive impact on the lives of others.
I have a wonderful family, and we have a very close and loving relationship. They are always
supportive and encouraging. My father, Sivanir (67), is a manager at a multinational company,
and my mother, Thaís (66), works as a social worker. My older brother, Arthur (27), is an
architectural photographer. I also have a great relationship with my sister-in-law who has been
in the family for 8 years.
Throughout my childhood, I studied mostly with the same group of people, forming deep and
lasting friendships. Additionally, I made significant friendships through my old church, and also
during my time in college.
I graduated in December 2023 with a degree in Pedagogy from UNIFESP, which is highly
recognized in my country. This degree qualifies me to work from early childhood education to
the fifth grade of elementary school. Over the years in college, I fell in love with the course.
During college, I worked as an intern in an elementary school and at a government agency
focused on monitoring children with learning difficulties and issues of vulnerability.

2. Why do you want to become an au pair and live with an American host family?
Por que você quer ser uma au pair e viver com uma família americana? (Quais são suas
motivações? Por que você decidiu participar desse programa?)

I became aware of the au pair program in 2019, and ever since then, I have been captivated by
the opportunity it presents. It has always been a dream of mine to live abroad, and the au pair
program offers the perfect combination of cultural immersion and meaningful work. However,
at the time, I had just begun my pedagogy degree, and I made the decision to complete it first. I
believed that finishing my degree would not only enhance my qualifications but also better
prepare me to be an effective au pair.

Now, having graduated and with a solid foundation in pedagogy, I am more excited than ever to
pursue this dream. Becoming an au pair and living with an American host family is not only an
opportunity for personal growth and cultural exchange but also a chance to make a positive
impact on the lives of the children I care for and the family as a whole. I am eager to share my
own culture, language, and educational background while also learning from the unique
experiences and perspectives of my host family. This experience aligns perfectly with my
aspirations and values, and I am committed to making the most of this opportunity.

3. Please describe how you spend your free time, including hobbies and interests
In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, trying out new restaurants,
going to the cinema, visiting parks, hiking outdoors, cycling, swimming, going to the gym,
camping, going to the beach, attending concerts, learning new languages, trying new recipes,
reading books, drawing, and painting.
Although I currently only go to the gym and swim regularly, I have always enjoyed sports and
have practiced various sports throughout my life. Reading and cooking are two of my absolute
favorite things to do, they bring me immense joy and relaxation. I also have a deep love for
music and tend to do everything while listening to it.
Overall, I find immense joy in using my free time for hobbies and interests that keep me active
and creatively engaged, while also embracing new experiences.

CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE
1. Please describe your experience with children with special needs.
Due to my college internships at different schools, I had the opportunity to work with children
of different ages who have disorders and/or disabilities. During these internships, I closely
supported two boys with learning difficulties for two months, providing them with personalized
assistance and helping them overcome their challenges.
2. Please describe your childcare experience and the children you cared for. Explain why
you enjoyed the experience and what you learned from it.
My first experience in a school was in 2021, where I worked six hours a day, directly interacting
with children aged 9 to 10. I assisted the children with their difficulties and prepared didactic
materials to aid their understanding of the lessons. This experience at a private school was
incredible and greatly contributed to my development. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the
school had to close for several months, and I subsequently left the position.
In 2023, I completed the mandatory college internships in public schools, where I voluntarily
worked with two different groups for two months: kindergarten and second grade of
elementary school. I have always been passionate about caring for children and being part of
their development.
Moreover, I worked for two years in a government agency, where, although I did not have
constant direct contact with children, I visited various public schools and interacted with the
children there as well as those assisted by the program I worked with.
Additionally, in 2020, I volunteered in the Sertão region of Piauí- Brazil, where I interacted with
children of various ages, from 4 to 9 years old. This was an extremely rewarding experience
where I organized different activities, including theater plays, art activities, face painting, and
games. I also took care of the children and helped them with their needs.
Beyond these experiences, I also had the opportunity to assist a neighbor with their children. I
looked after a child from the age of 3 to 5 years old. Additionally, I volunteered at my church,
where I taught Bible classes to children of different ages, ranging from 4 to 8 years old.
Caring for children has made me more responsible and affectionate. It has improved my
listening skills, problem-solving abilities, and conflict resolution. I have become more patient
and empathetic. My contact with children from different backgrounds has provided a unique
opportunity to learn about personalities, interests, and challenges.
