3 Translate into Nepali:

International media attention was drawn to the Hillary Step on Mount Everest after a British
mountaineer brought news of its possible disappearance.

The 12-metre tall rock formation stands on the mountain’s southeast side and it is the last great
challenge before reaching the top. It was named after Sir Edmund Hillary who was the first to
scale Mount Everest in 1953 together with Tenzing Norgay.

The British mountaineer said the Step may have come down during the 2015 earthquake.
However, other experts state that the Step is still there but not as visible as before because it is
covered in thick snow.

Nepali officials have refuted media reports that the Hillary Step was gone and thanked the Nepal
Mountaineering Association for conducting investigations and confirming that the historic rock
formation was still standing.

The next step the Nepali government plans to take is to send their own team for the first time to
explore the area and also to take precise measurements of the height of Mount Everest.
