A motorboat whose speed is 15km/hr in still water, goes 30km downstream and comes back
in a total time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Find the speed of the stream.

Q34. A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The
height of the cone is 4 cm and the diameter of the base is 8 cm. Determine the volume of the
toy. If a cube circumscribes the toy, then find the difference of the volumes of cube and the
toy.

A solid consisting of a right circular cone of height 120 cm and radius 60 cm standing on a
hemisphere of radius 60 cm is placed upright in a right circular cylinder full of water such
that it touches the bottom. Find the volume of water left in the cylinder, if the radius of the
cylinder is 60 cm and its height is 180 cm

Q36.

Aman got his name registered for a 200 m sprint race. The race is scheduled for a month later
than the time he registered for the race. He started practicing for the race. His current run
time is 51 sec for the distance to be covered in the race and with each day of practice it takes
him 2 seconds less. He wants to reduce his time to 31 seconds. Answer the following
questions:
(i) What would be a suitable AP for the above situation? (1)
(ii) Is 41 a term of this AP? (1)
(iii) If Aman is able to achieve his target, then in how many days will he be able to achieve
it? (2)
OR
If nth term of the AP is given by 𝑎𝑛 = 2𝑛 + 3 , then what is the common difference of the
AP? (2)

Q37. Football is the most popular game in the world. It combines strength , speed and skills.
Football is the most watched and most played sport on the earth. In Canada and America, it is
called Soccer. Football was invented in China nearly 476 BC. It is a 90 minutes long game
and those 90 minutes are distributed in two 45 minutes halves.

Three friends Rohit, Rahul and Ramesh decide to play Football in a playground of the school.
The position of Rohit, Rahul and Ramesh is shown in the diagram.

Their positions are marked with letters A, B, C, and D. Other available positions are marked
with letters E, D, F, and H.

Based on the above information and referring to the above diagram, answer the following
questions.
(i) What is the Co-ordinate of Ramesh’s position on the field? (1)
(ii) What is the Co-ordinate of Rahul’s position on the field? (1)
(iii) What is distance between Rahul and Ramesh position? (2)

If Rahul takes Football to position E and Rohit comes at position G then find the

Rahul is driving a car. On his way, he approaches a tall building and observes that Rajesh is
standing at the top of that building. A signboard besides the building read- Angle of
depression= 60°. The distance from the building at which Rahul stops his car is 50 m.

(i) What is the angle of elevation from Rahul’s car to the top of the building? (1)
(ii) Will the angle of elevation increase or decrease as the car approaches the
