Keyboard Shortcuts

Shortcut Description Notes

V, H, Z, W Switch between Move (V),


Hand (H), Zoom (Z) and Rotate
(W) modes

Page Up / Page Down Go to Previous / Next frame Hold down SHIFT to jump by
(Command + Right 10 frames back or forward
/ Left arrows on Mac)

CTRL + D Duplicate selected layers Need at least one layer


selected

CTRL + SHIFT + C Pre-compose selected layers Need at least one layer


selected

P, S, R, T, M Reveal Position (P), Scale (S), Need at least one layer


Rotation (R), Opacity (T) or selected. If you want to view
Shift + A, P, S, R, T Masks (M) on selected layers more than one transform
property at the same time hold
down the shift key and hit the
corresponding hotkey.

U / UU Reveal keyframes on selected


layer (U). Pressing U twice will
also reveal properties with
expressions

J/K Jump to previous (J) or next This command will take all
(K) keyframe currently revealed keyframes
into account

ALT + / Zoom preview window to FIT

* On the Number Pad Add a marker

[ and ] Move a layer to start at the


current playhead location

Home Move your playhead to the


beginning or the end of your

~ (Tilde) Maximize any window to fill the


entire After Effects screen by
hovering your mouse over any
window and hitting the
spicy ~ key.

Alt + Ctrl + Home Center anchor point

Hold Alt + Replace Replace layers in your timeline Select a layer in your timeline,
hold down the Alt key, select a
layer in your project panel and
replace by dropping the new
layer on the old one.
