RELATED STUDIES

Foreign

In the study of Fakhriy et al. (2017), laundry shoes or shoe washing services are

currently growing rapidly. This business began to grow and spread widely in almost all

major cities in Indonesia. This business is growing based on the consumptive nature of all

levels of society, especially among young people and workers who in everyday activities

use shoes.

Many studies have shown that the soles of our shoes can carry bacteria and viruses such

as COVID-19 which could impose health risks toward ourselves and many other

people. In line with this, the researchers thought of a solution to this problem by

creating a smaller, portable, and more affordable shoe rack that not only disinfects

but also deodorizes shoes. Also, the perceived marketability of the proposed shoe

rack which is known as “Shoevid-19” when it is available in the market was

determined. To determine if the product is acceptable and valid, 251 respondents

were considered who actively participated in the study. Structural Equation

Modeling (SEM) was utilized to determine the correlation and acceptance of the

results toward the recommended acceptable values provided by the parameters

and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Based on the results, it shows that the

ShoeVid-19 shoe rack and its innovations received positive feedback from the

respondents as the values were accepted based on the parameters provided. Thus, it can

be concluded that this product can have high marketability and a promising

demand once it is available in the market.

SYNTHESIS

The literature gathered in this study has greatly assisted the researcher in understanding

the study's direction. Furthermore, the literature has helped in determining the

acceptability of the variables and their indicators.

Fashion in Indonesia has seen a significant shift in recent years, with sneakers emerging

as a dominant trend. Djamuddin (2017) defines fashion as a cultural style of

dressing, where shoes play a crucial role in enhancing one's attire. The rise of

sneakers, as highlighted by Lauwis (2018), has been a defining feature of

Indonesian fashion over the past three years.

The growing interest in shoe care has led to the emergence of businesses like Step'n Shu

shoe laundry, as noted by Catharina (2015). This increased enthusiasm within the

community has created a demand for shoe washing services, presenting new

opportunities for entrepreneurs in the industry. To stay competitive, companies

like Step'n Shu must focus on developing strategies that align with consumer

expectations.
In order to succeed, companies need to conduct a thorough analysis of both internal and

external factors, as emphasized by Fakhriy et al. (2017). Understanding key

success factors and the business landscape is essential for Step'n Shu laundry

services to position themselves effectively in the market. The rapid growth of

shoe washing services across major Indonesian cities underscores the consumer

demand for such services, particularly among the younger demographic and

working individuals who rely on shoes in their daily activities.
