INTRODUCTION
Affordable Residential Plotted Colony under Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojna (DDJAY) on
land ad-measuring 5.218 acres is located at sector-22D, Rohtak, Haryana being
developed by Vijaylaxmi Infrabuild Pvt. Ltd.
___________________________________________________________
Water demand for the housing complex is calculated based on the stipulated
guidelines.
Considering 80% of the water supplied will be converted to sewage waste water, the
volume of sewage is calculated as is 175 KLD and hence considered for design.
The sewage waste generated during the operational phase shall be suitably treated
by primary, secondary and tertiary levels in the sewage treatment plant. The treated
sewage water is proposed to be recycled/reused for toilet flushing/washing /
irrigation/avenue plantation in the landscaping of the project site access.
Hence the plant is designed for sewage treatment of 175 KLD with a operation of
20-24 hours/day.
Sewage water will be lifted and transferred to next treatment unit via pump/s. All
Pump/s shall be provided with 1 working & 1 standby operation option with water
level controllers to switch OFF/ON the pumps in auto mode. At high level, the pump
will start and at low level the pump will trip automatically
A centralised control panel shall be installed in the STP pump room to operate the
pumps and blowers. The Electrical control panel shall be provided with an energy
meter to indicate and monitor the input power load for the operation of the STP
system.
Electromagnetic flow meter shall be provided at the inlet raw sewage pipe and
treated water outlet pipe to monitor the inlet & outlet sewage flows.
The treated water outlet line shall also have a on line pH indicator to read the pH of
outlet water.
An Ultra Violet system shall be installed at the tertiary treated water outlet line for
disinfection of the treated water. The disinfected water shall then be taken through
an Ultra-Filter membrane process (UF) system for achieving the desired parameters
as stipulated in the norms.

Design Basis
This Sewage Treatment Plant design is based on the following characteristics.
Water Water

PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The raw sewage will be first be collected in a underground collection tank by gravity and
then pumped for passing through a Bar Screen Chamber where any extraneous / floating
matter would be screened & trapped.
Subsequently the raw sewage water shall be collected in a oil & grease chamber wherein
the floating oil shall be scrapped for separation from sewage water.
The sewage would then be collected in a Receiving Tank /Equilisation tank where the
variations in flow and characteristics are dampened, which otherwise can lead to operational
problems and moreover it allows a constant flow rate downstream. Here the sewage will be
kept in mixed condition by means of coarse air bubble diffusion generated by air blowers.
The sewage water is then taken to an Anoxic Tank for reduction in inorganic solids like
Total Phosphorous and Total Nitrogen. Subsequently the sewage is collected in intermediate
tank for stabilisation and then taken to to the MBBR tank/s, where BOD/COD reduction is
achieved by virtue of aerobic microbial activities. The oxygen required will be supplied
through coarse air bubble diffusers generated by air blowers.
The excess bio-solids formed in the biological process are separated in the downstream
Tube Settler Tank. The clear supernatant after disinfection will be sent to the tertiary
polishing section comprising of a Dual Media Filter, Activated Carbon Filter. The
treated water shall then pass through an Ultra violet ( UV ) system for disinfection and then
be passed through an Ultra-Filteration system (UF) for further reduction in BOD , COD to
acceptable limits . The treated water may then be used for flushing and irrigation
application.
The biological sludge generated from the clarifier Tube Settler, will be drained to the
Sludge Holding Tank for sludge decantation and shall then be pumped to a basket type
centrifuge for dewatering. The dewatered sludge may be used as manure for horticulture.
