same. Finding and explaining how things are alike.

Contrasting is discovering how two things are


different. Finding and explaining ways they are
unalike.

This strategy helps us to think deeply about what we read.
We can find connections between characters, settings,
conflicts, objects, and themes. When we think about what
is the same and what is different, we look at something in
great detail to find ideas and information.

reading. As you read, put information into the Venn
Diagram. Gather details from the text about things
that are the same and things that are different.
