THE GLISSANDO
cresc. f rit. The Glissando is found quite often in band literature. It is meant lo be an "effect" and all
of the notes cannot always be played. The important thing is lo start on the first note of
glissando and end on the last note, on the beats indicated. It can be written in two different
SCALE STUDY ways, eíther writing out the notes or connecting the first and last notes of the glissando with
F Major Concert Scale IMMIMAIMMOMMIlm~y~
a line. The notes are usually scale tones of the key in which you are playing.

THE TRILL
The Trill is played by rapidly alternating between a given tone and the scale tone aboye,
either a half step or a whole step. There is no exact amount of notes in the trill but it
should be played as rapidly as possible.
