3. Hazards Identification
When involved in a fire or exposed to high temperatures for an extended period of time, organic
pigments may smolder or burn, evolving noxious fumes which can include oxides of nitrogen and
carbon, or other toxic compounds. Development of explosive mixtures with air possible, especially
at floor level. Harmful when inhaled/swallowed and on contact with skin & eyes.
General Advice:
Heating increases pressure; danger of bursting and explosion. Cool neighbouring packages
or containers with sprayed water and - if possible - remove them from the danger zone.
Prevent water from firefighting to enter into life waters or the ground water.
Wear protective clothing. Keep unprotected individuals apart. Ensure adequate ventilation at all
levels. Avoid contact with skin & eyes. Remove/extinguish any sources of ignition immediately. Do
not breathe vapours/aerosol.
Small Spill:
Cover spilled material with an absorbing substance such as sand. Remove and place spilled
material into suitable container(s) for disposal in accordance with applicable federal, state and
local legislation.
Large Spill:
As above. Prevent spilled material from entering into life waters and community waste-water
systems.
Personal Protection:
General Advice:
Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Take off contaminated clothing immediately. Avoid
substance contact with skin and eyes, and do not breathe vapours/aerosol.

In the interest of good working practice, personnel should wear protective clothing. Hands
should be washed before breaks and after work.
