Daily Lesson Plan in Mathematics Grade 3

Quarter 2, Week 2, Day 1

I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT The learner demonstrates understanding of multiplication and
STANDARD division of whole numbers including money

B. PERFORMANCE The learner Is able to apply multiplication in mathematical

STANDARDS problems and real-life situations.

C. MOST ESSENTIAL The learner illustrates the properties of multiplication in relevant

LEARNING situations (commutative property, distributive property or
COMPETENCY associative property)
(UNCODED)
D. UNPACKED The leaner illustrates the commutative property of multiplication
LEARNING in relevant situations.
OBJECTIVE
II. CONTENT Illustrating the Commutative Property of Multiplication in Relevant
Situations
III. LEARNING
RESOURCES
A. References
1. Textbooks
A Mathematics 3 TG pages 128-130
b LM pages 119-122
2. Other sources
a MELCs Quarter 2. Week 2
b.K to 12 Curriculum Guide, Grade 3, quarter 2.

IV.PROCEDURES

ELICIT
Direction: Give the missing number.
1. 7 x 5 = ___
2. 8 x 0 = ___
3. 4 x __ = 20
4. __ x 10 = 90
5. 1 x 9 = ___
ENGAGE Show the illustration to the class

Ask:
What can you see in the picture?

How many box of apple in group A?

How many pieces of apple in each group in group A?
How many pieces of apple in all in group A?
How many box of apple in group B?
How many pieces of apple in each group in group B?
How many pieces of apple in all in group B?
Do they have the same number of apples?

EXPLORE
Have them study the given data.
Ask pupils to write the multiplication sentence for
each set of objects.

.
EXPLAIN If you are to put a relation symbol in between the two number
sentences, what would that be: >, < or =? Why?

How did you determine the pairs of multiplication facts?

Why did you say that the numbers are in pairs?
What are these pairs of numbers?

Let’s study another example:

3 x 4 is equal to 4 x 3
12 12
Therefore: 3 x 4 = 4 x 3
12 = 12
Ask: What did you notice about the factors?
How about the product?

Say: The position of the factors changes but the product is the same.
This property of multiplication is called commutative property
1. The teacher will discuss the lesson well by using different
exercises and examples.

a. Illustrate the commutative property of multiplication by

matching column A with column B.

A B
1. 3 x 4 a 3 x 8
2. 5 x 6 b. 2 x 6
3. 6 x 2 c. 4 x 5
4. 8 x 3 d. 7 x 9
5. 9 x 7 e. 4 x 3
f. 6 x 5

b.Write the missing factor.

1. 7 x 4 = _______ x 7
2. 2 x ___ = 5 x 2
3. 6 x 3 = 3 x ____
4 4 x ___ = 4 x 5
5. ___ x 9 = 9 x 7
ELABORATE Group I
Direction:Read the problem and solve by illustrating the
commutative property of multiplication and write the number
sentence.

1.Lilibeth draws 6 circle with 3 stars inside.how many stars did

Lilibeth draw?

Illustration and solution

Number sentence

Group II
Write the missing factor.
1. 7 x 8 = _______ x 7
2. 2 x ___ = 9 x 2
3. 6 x 3 = 3 x ____
4 4 x ___ = 4 x 2
5. ___ x 9 = 9 x 4

Group III

Match column A with column B.

A B
1. 3 x 4 a 3 x 8
2. 5 x 6 b. 2 x 6
3. 6 x 2 c. 4 x 5
4. 8 x 3 d. 7 x 9
5. 9 x 7 e. 4 x 3
f. 6 x 5

What is the commutative property of multiplication?

The commutative property of multiplication states that the order of the given
factors does not affect the product or changing the order of the factors does not
change the product.

EVALUATION
Direction.Find the correct answer inside the box and write the
letter on your paper.

1.) 2 x 4
aa. 7 x 6
2.) 5 x 9 b. 6 x 8
3.) 6 x 7 c. 8 x 9
4.) 8 x 6 d. 4 x 2

5.) 9 x 8 e. 9 x 5
f. 7 x 3
EXTEND Complete the multiplication sentence and give the product.

1.5 x 8= __ x ___
2.6 x 7 = __ x 6
3.7 x 9 = 9 x ___
4.__ x 6 = 6 x 4
5.3 x __ = 9 x 3
