Chart given below shows number of days for completion of job by four person — P, Q, R, and S alone.
Time taken by A alone to complete the job Z days and B is Y days. Both started the work and before
10 days of completion of work B left. It is noticed after completion of the work that A does 60% of
total work, find difference between time taken by B and Q alone to Complete the job, if A takes 10
days more than B to complete the whole work alone.
R and S started the work and after 3 days, they left such that remaining work completed by P and Q.
Number of days for which Q worked is 60% more than that of P. Find the value of Y, if number of
days for which P worked is Y/2.
Q, R, and S started the work in alternate manner in same order, after 19 days they all left and
remaining work completed by P (working with 25% more than its usual efficiency) so, that whole work
completed in (2L + 3) days. Find the value of L.
Pipe P and Q alone can fill tank in 50 hours and 30 hours respectively, while Pipe R can empty the
same tank in 75 hours. When all three pipes opened together for (Z + 4) hours to fill tunnel they can
fill only 60% capacity of tunnel When P, Q and R opened for alternate hours (in same order) for Z
hours they can fill M/2% of tunnel. Find the value of M, if capacity of tank is 600 liters, which is 25%
less than that of tunnel
A tank has Z inlet pipes and Y outlet pipes. An inlet pipe can fill the tank in 16 hours and an outlet
pipe can empty the tank in 24 hours. If all pipes opened simultaneously, they can fill the tank in 12
hours. Value of (Z + Y)/Y is _____ .
Pipe P alone can fill the tank in Z hours which is 4 hours less than that of time taken by pipe Q to
empty the tank alone. Pipe P and pipe R (filling pipe) can fill the tank in 3z14 hours where pipe P and Q
together can fill the tank in (Y + 1) hours. Pipe R alone can fill the tank in (2Y + 2) hours.
I.Z=Y
II. Time taken by Pipe P, Q, and R together to fill the tank is (Z + Y)/2 hours.
III. Pipe S alone can fill the tank in (Z + Y) hours. When all pipes P Q, R, and S opened together in
alternate manner in same order, then tank filled in 4.5 hours.
Four inlet pipes connected to a tank on Monday and after T hours, when 12 outlet pipes are also
connected to tank, so in next 4 hours tank is emptied. On Tuesday four inlet pipes connected to tank
and after T hours 14 outlet pipes are also connected to tank is emptied in next 3 hours. On
Wednesday four inlet pipes are connected to the tank and after T hours hour (Z-2) outlet pipes are
connected to tank is emptied in next 2 hours. Find the value of Z, on each day tank start filling at
same time.

(Class 2)
There are four pipes — P, Q, R and S out of which R and S only are emptying pipes. Rate of filling of P
is 2.5 times of rate of emptying of R. Taken take by Q alone to fill the tank is 8 hours more than that
of P. When P, Q, and R opened together simultaneously so tank is filled in 10 hours. When P, Q, and R
opened together alternatively in same order and on every 7th hour only pipe S is opened (rest pipes
closed), so tank filled in 36 hours. Time taken by S alone to empty the tank is (Z + 12) hours.
Pipe S (working at twice of its original rate of emptying), situated at 1/3rd height from bottom and
pipe R situated at 2/3rd height from bottom of tank. All pipes opened simultaneously so that tank
filled in Y hours. Find the value of 3Y?
Class 2:
A tank can be filled by Pipe A and Pipe B alone in 12 minutes and 24 minutes respectively. Person
starts filling the tank (opened pipe A and pipe B, who is not aware about the leakage in the tank and
as per the stipulated time he closed both pipes A and B. After that in next 24 minutes tank is
emptied. On next day he starts filling the tank on same time, but when he checks after stipulated
time the tank is not filled, so he aware about the leakage and instantly repair it, now find the time
taken to fill the remaining tank? (Class 3)
Pipe P supply milk and pipe Q supply water. Pipe P can fill the tank in 30 minutes alone while Q can fill
it in 1 hour alone. Pipe R is an outlet pipe can empty the tank in 2 hours. All pipes opened
simultaneously at IO am, after 12 minutes a hole occurred in tank which emit mixture at twice the
rate at which pipe R emits. Further next 10 minutes all pipes are closed and leakage repaired and then
fill the tank completely on adding milk. Now find by what % amount of milk in tank is more than that
of water? (Class 3)
Directions [01 — 04]: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
There are two tanks P (cuboidal) and Q (cylindrical) and five pipes — A, B, C, D and E. Both B and D
are emptying and rest are filling pipes.
Time taken by B to empty the tank Q is T hours, while A can fill tank P in (T — 2.4) hours. Rate of
emptying of B is 3Z cm3/minute which is 25% less than that of rate of filling of pipe c.
• When pipe C and pipe E opened simultaneously for tank P such that on every 4nd minute and 5rd
minute pipe C and E closed respectively, then tank filled in (Y/2 + 2.4) minutes. When B and D opened
simultaneously for tank Q then tank emptied in (3Y + 15) minutes.
• When A and D opened for tank P, they can fill the tank in (3z14) hours. When pipe B situated at
80% height from bottom tank P, then both pipe C and B together can fill tank P in 72 minutes.
Note: a) Dimensions of tank P is G cm, H cm and 12cm, where G and H are least consecutive odd
primes.
b) Capacity of tank Q is thrice as that of tank P.
For Tank Q, if B situated at 50% height from bottom, and D situated above 60% more than the
height at which pipe B situated. All pipes opened together simultaneously, then find approx. time in
minutes to fill the tank?

(Class 3)
A water tank has capacity of 2.4 lakhs liters to provide continuous water supply to three different
areas — P, Q, and R. When tank is emptied it is refilled and gives continuous supply to different
houses. Each house is filled with two taps (both of same efficiency). Both taps opened simultaneously
and opened continuously.
When water tank supplied water to area P only, and it is filled total 96 times in 2 months (each month
has 30 days). Find the value of Z?
When water tank supplied to area Q only, tank filled total 12 times in 20 days. Find Y is how much %
more or less than rate of flow of each tap of area P?
When tank supplied water to area R only for two days and its emptied and no refill of tank is done.
One of the tap working at 80% of its usual flow rate and other at 50% of its usual rate. Find the
value of M?
Directions [08 — 10]: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
There are two sets of pipes — P (filling pipes A and B) and Q (emptying pipes C and D). Time taken by
B and C together to fill the tank is 90 minutes more than to time taken by A and D together to fill
the tank. Efficiency of set P pipes together is thrice of efficiency of set Q pipes. Time taken by set
Q pipes to empty the tank together is 48 minutes. (Class 3)
Rate of emptying of C is 50% more than that of D. When A and C work together, then after 12
minutes how much amount of water is filled by them together, if D emits 14 Liters/minutes?
Directions [01 — 03]: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
A cylindrical tank connected to 4 pipes — A, B, C and D, where C and D are emptying pipes and rest
are filling pipes. A and C fitted at bottom of tank; C fitted at half height from bottom of tank while
D fitted at 62.5% height from bottom of tank; Rate of filling of A is 50% more than rate of emptying
of C, while rate at flow of B and D is in 5:2 respectively. When B and D closed and rest pipes opened
to tank filled in Y minutes, and when A and C closed rest opened so tank filled in (Y —20) minutes.
z2 - 24Z + 80 = 0
Use = 3.
Rate of emptying D of 4 cm3 / minute and height of tank is 2.5 times as that of its radius.
When all pipes opened simultaneously and fitted at bottom of conical tank has capacity twice of
cylindrical tank. Find time taken to fill conical tank is ____ .
I. (Y+16) minutes
II. (Y/2 + 8) minutes
III. 12K minutes
IV. 24K minutes
II. Difference between time taken by pipe A alone and pipe B alone to fill the tank is 8 minutes
III. When pipe C fitted at bottom of tank then time taken by pipe C to empty 60% volume of tank is
36 minutes.
Directions [04 — 051: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
There are three sets of pipes P, Q and R. Set P has 5 pipes, while set Q has (Y + 4) pipes, and number
of pipes in set R is 4 less than that of set Q. When all pipes of set P opened simultaneously, they can
fill half the tank in Z/2 minutes. One pipe alone of set Q and set R can fill and empty full tank in
(Y+2) hours and (Y — 2) hours respectively. When all pipes and set Q and set R together opened, they
can empty the tank in 40 minutes.
b) All pipes of set R are emptying pipes; rest pipes are filling pipes.
When four pipes of set P and all pipes of set R opened simultaneously, find time taken (in hours) to
fill the 80% volume of tank, if Z = (4Y + 2).
When all pipes of set R is closed, and all pipes of set P and Q is opened, such that after every two
minutes one pipe of set Q is closed. Find the time taken to fill the tank (approx.), Z is 9 times of Y.
