Hi hello,
My name is NurFarah Mardhiah Yasmeen Binti Japri. I am 11 years old and I love to read. Today I am
going to make a book review on one of my favourite story book.
This book's genre is fantasy and adventure which is my kind of book. The title of the book is Tangled. It was
written by Ben Smiley and published by Igloo Books. The book comes with colourful illustrations and has
65 pages. I come across this after watching the Disney movie of Tangled. Curiosity, get me thrilled to see
how was it like to read the book and yes it was much better in reading version.
The story was adapted from the famous story of Rapunzel but was added to Disney which is quite new and
suitable for the new generation. In the beginning of the story, there was a king and a queen, who both really
wanted a child, but did not have one. The queen became very sick, and wanted rampion to cure her, but it
was only found in the witch’s garden. The witch made them promise that they would give their first child
up, so that the witch could raise her - in return they could have all the rampion they wanted.
Princess Rapunzel was born, and the witch came and take her away. After few years, she became a beautiful
young woman with long locks of blonde hair. The witch wanted to protect her from the world, so she locked
her in a castle, with only a window. The witch made Rapunzel believe that she was her real mother. The
witch would visit every day and would call up to Rapunzel, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden
hair," as a good daughter, she let down her hair.
Eventually a thief saw her from the window and fell in love. He proceeded to watch the witch and did the
same thing himself. Once he got to Rapunzel, she was stunned as she never sees anyone like her apart from
the witch. The thief told Rapunzel about the outside world. Rapunzel ask him to bring her to see the floating
light in return of the thief satchel. They went on adventurous and met a lot of good and bad people. She
found out that, she was a lost princess. After a while, the witch caught them. Flynn, the thief tried to save
Rapunzel from being taken away and cut her hair. Rapunzel’s hair changed to black. The shiny blonde
magical hair was gone. The witch was shocked, all her power disappears, and she became an old nanny. The
witch was angry and ran to the forest. In the end, the prince saves Rapunzel from the secluded tower. They
lived happily ever after together in the kingdom.
I really like how the writer describes every detail in the story. She describes the locations and the items as
well as the character motives very realistically. I can easily imagine them in my head while reading it. My
favourite character is Rapunzel itself. Since, she’s been locked up for too long, she can do almost everything
alone and read a lot of books to kill some time. She also quite adventurous and brave to decide something
important for her life.
From this book, I learned that we never know what we are capable of until we try. Rapunzel was faced with
extraordinary situations, and she was able to make out of it. She also very hardworking, and kind.
To conclude this book is enjoyable for children and even adults. It's a perfect book to also read a strong
escapism book it's incredibly easy to get enveloped in the story and the characters too. Everything is so well
crafted and put together I would really recommend everyone to read this book. Thank you for listening to
my book review.
