Step 2 - Develop A Solution
Step 3 -Construct and Test Prototype
Step 3 -Construct and Test Prototype
Insert numbered steps, rules, and the ways to win the game.
numbered steps:
RULES:
1. Get a ping pong ball
1. Must follow directions (# steps)
2. Place the ball in the head
2. No throwing ball with hands
(spoon part) of the fling
3. Must wait for the ball to be given to you each
machine
turn
3. Fling the ball
4. Clean hands
4. Try to hit targets or shoot
the ball into the top holes

How to WIN:
The player must hit all the targets or get 1 ball in a hole to achieve
an automatic win (continue playing until player has won)
Step 3 -Construct and Test Prototype
Pair up with another team. Switch stations. Try the other teams’ design 5 times. Record
the outcomes of each toss. What were the results? Did you win? Put a screenshot of your
results here.
First three tries where all missed.
The last two, they either hit targets or got the ball into the hole.
1 out of the two players won.
Step 3 - Construct and Test Prototype
What feedback would you give the other group? What would make this game better?

To make their project better, we would make the fling machine more
accurate or connected to the carnival game instead of depending on
a ruler to measure the distance in order to make aiming and
controlling the game more easier and fun especially for little kids.
we would also make the game more visually appealing and creative
while also maintaining the objective of the game.
Step 4 - Reflect - Ana
Did your game function as you had intended? Why or why not? Include specific examples!

Yes because everything work as we planned expect for the sling machine rotating
specifically how we wanted it to. For example, the background looks as I envisioned.
Step 4 - Reflect - Sarah
Did your game function as you had intended? Why or why not? Include specific examples!

Surprisingly yes, because the design came out as intended and all of the ideas I had
planned for the project came to life. For example the dino-sling-shot came out exactly
how we wanted it to. our carnival game turned out very aesthetically pleasing and a lot of
fun to play!
Step 4 - Reflect - Sophia
Did your game function as you had intended? Why or why not? Include specific examples!

Yes I believe our project was able to function as we intended. The fling machine is small
and has accuracy, although it is a little tough to move and you do have to hold onto the
fling machine in order to shoot the ball. Other than that our knockdown figures are able to
stand and fall down, and the holes are perfect for an automatic win!
Step 4 - Reflect - Esme
Did your game function as you had intended? Why or why not? Include specific examples

Yes, I think everything turned out fine and I expected to have some struggles with
agreeing on things and the way I thought things were gonna turn out v.s how it actually
turn out. For example I expect the dino to be a real life dinosaur.
Step 4 - Reflect - Payton
Did your game function as you had intended? Why or why not? Include specific examples!

Yes because everything worked out the exact way we planned. For example the targets,
we planned for them to fall down and they do and the top two holes look exactly like we
drew them.
Step 4 - Reflect (Day 3 or 4) - Ana
Based on the feedback received from other students, what changes still need to be made
to your design? How would it improve your design? Include specific examples!
the game is rigged its cool

They only struggled the first few rounds. So we need to maybe give them a few practice
rounds because they struggled to get points the first few rounds.
Step 4 - Reflect (Day 3 or 4) - Sarah
Based on the feedback received from other students, what changes still need to be made
to your design? How would it improve your design? Include specific examples!

Based on the feedback given to us the amount of tries it took for them to finally score
point was a little concerning. Therefore giving an visual example on how to do it first
would probably help them out a bit. i would have also probably changed the easy level of
the game because it also apeared that the feedback given was because the fling machine
was more difficult to aim correctly.
Step 4 - Reflect (Day 3 or 4) - Sophia
Based on the feedback received from other students, what changes still need to be made
to your design? How would it improve your design? Include specific examples!

from what they’ve said I think the shelf that by the holes should be slanted so the ball can
easily go in without coming out. I also think that we should fix the point system because
one of the players got 16 point and they had to get 4 more points in order to win, but since
they already dropped the 2 and 3 point targets they had to go for the hole. So I think it’d be
easier to understand if the target points added up to our 20 point system. Ex. All targets
count as 5 points
Step 4 - Reflect (Day 3 or 4) - Esme
Based on the feedback received from other students, what changes still need to be made
to your design? How would it improve your design? Include specific examples!

I think that based on the feedback it super hard to get it into the holes and being new to
this game all together was a challenge. Some changes that could have been made were if
when explaining we could demonstrated first they would struggle less on those first few
rounds.
Step 4 - Reflect (Day 3 or 4) - Payton
Based on the feedback received from other students, what changes still need to be made
to your design? How would it improve your design? Include specific examples!

Based on the feedback, they struggled to make points, so we could improve our point
system. we could make the winning amount of points less.
Step 4 - Reflect - Ana
If no one won your game, how can you improve your design to make it easier?
If many people won your game, how can you improve your design to make it
more difficult (staying within the 2-6 feet limit). Include specific examples!

If no one won our game I would make the board closer. Therefore they can
see the targets better and get a better chance of hitting them.

If too many people won our game I would make the board father,
therefore, it would be more of a struggle to see the targets.
Step 4 - Reflect - Sarah
If no one won your game, how can you improve your design to make it
easier? If many people won your game, how can you improve your
design to make it more difficult (staying within the 2-6 feet limit).

if no one won our game, i would make it that it was easier to achieve
points my either making the fling machine more easier to work or more
accurate and also make the targets or hole bigger to have a easier and
more likely chance to win! if many people won our game, i would change
the number of points given to each target to make it more challenging to
win.
Step 4 - Reflect - Sophia
If no one won your game, how can you improve your design to make it easier? If many people
won your game, how can you improve your design to make it more difficult (staying within the
2-6 feet limit). Include specific examples!

No one won our game, I think we should add easier targets or fix the
rotation issue on the fling machine. Also I think it’d be best to make the
prizes accessible, for example if you get 2 points from one target you can
get a really small prize, that way they can still try to get an automatic win
but they still ”win” prizes and ”win” in some way. I also I think we should
change the point system on the targets, so that way they have an easier
chance of winning. For example one of the smaller targets can be 5 points
and the other two can be either 2 or 3 that way they have to get the ball in
the hole in order to win or have all the targets each be worth 5 points
Step 4 - Reflect - Esme
If no one won your game, how can you improve your design to make it easier?
If many people won your game, how can you improve your design to make it
more difficult (staying within the 2-6 feet limit). Include specific examples!

If too many people would have lost our game I would more targets and
make the holes bigger. Therefore there is more opportunities when trying
to get points.

If too many people won our game I think I would make less targets and
the holes just big enough to fit the balls.
Step 4 - Reflect - Payton
If no one won your game, how can you improve your design to make it easier?
If many people won your game, how can you improve your design to make it
more difficult (staying within the 2-6 feet limit). Include specific examples!

If no one would have won our game I think we could add more rounds and
make the amount of points to win less. They would be able to go for 7
rounds and have to make 12 points instead.

If many people won our game I would do the opposite.

Step 4 -Reflect - Ana
Carnivals travel from city to city, how would you need to modify your design so
that transporting it would be easier? Include specific examples!

We could make it foldable. Therefore, it would take up less space when

traveling.
Step 4 -Reflect - Sarah
Carnivals travel from city to city, how would you need to modify your design so
that transporting it would be easier? Include specific examples!

We could put a handle on it, so that it could be easier to carry around or. we
could make it so that the parts are separated and so its easier to put away while
traveling to different cities while having the same effect and practicality that it
would without changing it.
Step 4 -Reflect - Sophia
Carnivals travel from city to city, how would you need to modify your design so
that transporting it would be easier? Include specific examples!

Since it’s made out of cardboard, we could make it foldable, so that it can
open up and close like a suitcase. That way it’s accessible and it’s easier to
transfer from one place to another. And of course add a handle in the back and
a latch to keep items from falling.
Step 4 -Reflect - Esme
Carnivals travel from city to city, how would you need to modify your design so
that transporting it would be easier? Include specific examples!

I would make connectable pieces, therefore it would be easier to build once at

that place they want to set it up. They would also be able to travel with it easier
because it much easier to travel with multiple small pieces rather than one huge
game.
Step 4 -Reflect - Payton
Carnivals travel from city to city, how would you need to modify your design so
that transporting it would be easier? Include specific examples!

We could fold it into smaller pieces to make it compact so it takes up less

space.
Step 4 -Reflect - Ana
What went well in this project? What could have been improved?

1. The group bounding because the fighting made it fun and we‘re closer
now.
2. Wasting time and Procrastinating on things.
Step 4 -Reflect - Sarah
What went well in this project? What could have been improved?

1. The design and sticking to the concept of the game that we made at the
beginning went well because it was just as we imagined. The Spider-Man
theme was on point as well the the actual targets and the holes being just
as we envisioned them.
2. I would say the time management and planning certain things out were
where things could have improved. Most of the times we would have some
people doing a lot of work while others where doing little task. There would
also be days where the whole group would just do small things rather than
doing the big task that needed to get done.
Step 4 -Reflect - Sophia
What went well in this project? What could have been improved?

I think the fling machine went really well, we choose a small and easy design,
that really helped us because our original idea was to make the tail of the Dino
the fling shot. Overall a perfect design. I think the visual design could be better,
for example the cotton balls, I feel like they could’ve been handled better to look
like spiderwebs. In conclusion the appearance of our project is appealing, and
the function of our carnival game is easy to understand.
Step 4 -Reflect - Esme
What went well in this project? What could have been improved?

1. I think the design went really well, because it looked amazing and although
we didn’t agree on all the design choices, for example ⅖ of us didn’t like
spider webs. I feel as though we all worked together to make a really great
project.
2. I think the time management could be improved for next time because we
would get distracted at times and that would take time away from our
actual projects. Therefore, we could’ve added more detail or fix any
problems that we had with the game.
Step 4 -Reflect - Payton
What went well in this project? What could have been improved?

1. I think the communication and teamwork went really well in this group.
2. The time management and the planning beforehand could have been
better.
