WORKING ANALYSIS AT PRESTIGE FM RADIO, BOSSO

LOWCOST MINNA, NIGER STATE

Experience is the best teacher in life because, the experience I had

during my two months SIWES programme at Prestige Fm Radio, cannot
be over emphasized with the classroom teaching. My experience with
the station has made me realize that practical is very important when
combine with theory.

Also in the news and current affairs department I was assigned to go on

a special report on the hike in the price of transportation during the

Christmas festive celebration which I did interview some people and it

was air some days to Christmas. During my two (2) month of SIWES, I

was attached to News department production department, and

Programme department. In the production department I recorded

different staffs, colleague and edited it using adobe 1.5 software’s in

the computer system and the program went on Air the same day. I was

also given an assignment on an inspiration program title “Relationship”

during my SIWES Training.

SECTION FOUR

Summary

I was able to learn a lot about broadcasting, how to source for news, write news
story, edit and search for special topic for report, bulletins, identify how the role
and job of a journalist looks like.

I was exposed to preparing of news items, press release from information gathered
in the council and many more. My training was such a wonderful one and couple
with the fact that I was posted to news and current affairs department and other
department in the radio studio and it added knowledge to me to be creative, bold,
when conducting vox pop and various interview I was able to speak fluently.

Conclusion
The three month Industrial Training with Prestige FM 91.7 MHZ MX Was a
tremendous success and at the same time a great place of acquisition of
knowledge and skills relevant to mass communication study Through my
training, I was able to appreciate my choice of course of study even more.
My training has given me a broader view to the importance and relevance of
mass communication to the general public and the world at large.

Recommendations
I use the medium to make the following recommendations concerning the
training of students in industrial attachment:

1. Early and multiple supervision: The supervisors assigned should

endeavor to visit their students in the earlier stage of the SIWES
program and also multiple times. This will install seriousness in the
students.
2. The training time frame of SIWES should be in creased from two months
to three: This will give room for students to learn more in the media
organization they are.
3. Government should encourage the various establishments especially
government own organization to give students undertaking SIWES in
their establishment a take home pay to cater for the expense account in
the course of training and also a way of touching the individual personal
life.
