    INSTRUCTIONS The Course work Examination for Ph.D./M.Tech.

    (By Research)/Integrated Research programmes of Research Scholars are proposed to be held in Nov / Dec 2011, as elaborated below: I. Mode of Study for Theory Subject: 1. Self Study: The Research Scholar will study the Course Work Subjects under the Supervision of his/her Supervisor. 2. Regular Study: The Research Scholar will study the Course Work Subjects along with regular Master Degree Programme students. II. Industrial Attachments/ Field Work: 1. The Industrial A t t a c h m e n t / Field work would be evaluated by a Board comprising the following: Chairperson : Supervisor Member 1: University Representative Member 2: An Expert from the concerned Industry (minimum DGM level) / Expert faculty member from the University. a) Project Report: 50 Marks. Evaluation is to be done by Industrial Supervisor for Industrial Attachment. Incase of field work, the assessment may be undertaken by supervisor. Format for project report preparation is placed in Annexure A1. The project report shall be spiral or hard bound. b) Project presentation and Viva-Voce : 50 Marks by Evaluation Board. The project evaluation table is placed in Annexure A2. Schedule of Examinations/ Evaluation Boards: 1. Theory Examinations for Regular Study / Self Study: Morning / Afternoon Sessions. Regular Study: Time Table : Refer Master Degree Programme Examination Time Table (available in Website www.autcbe.ac.in) Exam Centre : The College in which the Research Scholar attended the regular Classes along with Master Degree programme students. Self Study: Timetable : Will be scheduled separately Exam Centre : ACADEMIC CAMPUS Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, Jothipuram, Coimbatore-6 41047 2. Project presentations for Industrial Attachment/ Field work: To be scheduled by the Supervisor. IV. Application and Last Date 1. All Research Scholars are requested to fill their application for Written Examinations/ Project Evaluation in online (www.autcbe.ac.in) and print the filled in application. The printed application along with necessary fee should be duly verified and endorsed by the concerned Supervisor and it s hould be sent to the Controller of Examinations, Anna University of Technology Coimbatore. Fee is to be paid along with the application form by Demand Draft in favour of The Controller of Examinations, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore payable at Coimbatore. a). Last date for receipt of filled in applications with out fine : 25.10.2011. b). Last date for receipt of filled in applications with fine : 28.10.2011. The filled in application forms received after due date on account of postal delay in transit or loss will not be considered under any circumstances and will summarily be rejected. Fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances. Note: 1) The Supervisor is requested to scrutinize the application form thoroughly to avoid any error before forwarding the same. Last minute corrections will not be entertained. 2) The Application must be accompanied with two copies of the syllabus and in one copy of the syllabus the Research Scholar has to write his/her name, Register Number and the Name of the supervisor and the same has to attested by his /her supervisor. Supervisor should ensure that the syllabus attached is same as approved in DC meeting. Applications received without the syllabus will not be considered. Common syllabus for Research Methodology is available in the University website for Engineering, Management and Science and Humanities separately. The attendance certificate is mandatory for both regular study (to be obtained from the college in which he /she attended the regular classes) and Self study(to be obtained from supervisor) III

    4) Subject Code is Mandatory for the Students who are appearing for the Examinations along with Regular Master degree Programme Students. The Subject Code and College Code are available in the university Website. The Candidates are advised to refer the university website for the correct Subject Code and College Code.     ANNEXURE A1 GUIDELINES / FORMAT FOR RECORD BOOK The following guidelines may be adopted while compiling Record Books for Industrial Attachment/ Field Work. I. INTRODUCTORY PART a) Title page giving name of Topic, Name of Student, Guide (with designation and Address) & Doctoral Committee, with Register Numbers of Candidate and Guide. b) Contents of Record Book. c) Background/ Synopsis/ Scope of Research of Ph.D./ M.S.( by Research) / M.Tech (by Research) work. d) Synopsis/ Scope of Industrial Attachment / Field work. e) Listing of Areas of Study/ attachment in Industrial attachment/ Field work with details of time spent in theoretical work/ Practical work. MAIN BODY OF WORK/ ATTACHMENT (giving details of literature survey/ experiments/ practical testing and observations) a) Part 1 b) Part 2 c) Part 3 DERIVATIVES/ EXTRACT OF WORK RELEVANT TO AREA OF RESEARCH (especially with respect to special equipment, methods, experimentation etc.) GREY AREAS AND FUTURE SCOPE OF WORK CONCLUSION: APPENDICES: Data sheets, Observation Sheets, Analysis and calculation Sheets, daily/ weekly work reports etc. BIBLIOGRAPHY
