REVIEW

Recall that a right triangle is a kind of triangle that has one right angle and two acute angles. The
hypotenuse is the opposite side of the right angle, which is the longest side of the triangle. The
symbols “ ∟ 𝑜𝑟 ⦜" is used to indicate that a triangle is a right triangle.

B. Establishing a purpose for the ACTIVITY

lesson
1. Draw a Triangle DBA right angled at B with refence angle A.
2. With the same triangle, label the triangle with its corresponding parts.
3. If a = 5, b = 12 and C = 13 find the 6 trigonometric ratios

Guide Questions

1. Was it easy for you to draw the right triangle?

2. Without using a ruler and a protractor, do you think you can able to find the unknown side
and angle?
3. What technique you will use to find the unknown side and angle?
C. Presenting examples/instances Solving a right triangle means finding the measure of the remaining parts by using the concept of
of the new lesson the 6 trigonometric ratios.

Six Trigonometric Ratios

opposite side hypotenuse

sin ∅ = csc ∅ =
hypotenuse opposite side
adjacent side hypotenuse
cos ∅ = sec ∅ =
hypotenuse adjacent side
opposite side adjacent side
tan ∅ = cot ∅ =
adjacent opposite side

Example:

Triangle BCA is right-angled at C. If c = 23 and b = 17, find the 6 trigonometric ratios if a = 15.
Solution: Sketch a figure:

Solve the triangle using the 6 trigonometric ratios.

D. Discussing new concepts and Directions: Find the 6 trigonometric functions of the triangle.
practicing new skills #1

E. Discussing new concepts and Directions: Solve the right triangle given a = 12, b= 10 and c = 27
practicing new skills #2

F. Finding practical applications of Group Activity

concepts and skills in daily
living Create a triangle and label its parts. Identify a, b and c and solve the triangle using the 6
