1 Introduction
This document forms part of the process of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of an Adsorption Dryer unit.
For details please refer to the function test procedure in the IMS (Function test instruction)
Inspections will be carried out against the latest revision of the relevant documents and drawings with as a minimum
Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), Electrical Wiring Diagram and General Arrangement Drawing (GA)
All checked and accepted items shall be marked on the drawing with green (“highlight marker”).
If a section is not applicable to the product being tested, tick the “Not applicable” check point in the appropriate
section.
All deviations from the drawing or testing shall be indicated on the drawing with Red, Blue or orange;
 Red for wrong information (info to be deleted)
 Orange for items not present during test, thus not tested.
 Blue for correct information (info to be added)
Remarks shall be written in clouds on the drawing
All accepted deviations shall be updated on the “AS BUILT” drawing.

2 Utilities for factory acceptance test

The following utilities are needed during FAT
 Compressed air 6 Bar for pilot air supply
 Power supply: follow wiring diagram
 Portable dew point Analyser Blank template

3 Inspection against drawing

Checking of all items will be done before the commencement of the test according the following documents (latest
revisions):

4 Checks and inspection

4.1 Check of wiring

All electrical connections and loops will be checked against the latest revision of the Electrical drawings, mentioned
in chapter 3 of this procedure and be confirmed as checked and approved in chapter 19.

4.2 Check of alarms settings and PLC program

Checking of alarms and settings will be performed.
Appendix I will be completed.
A laptop will be used to read PLC values and check controls.
Deviations will be listed in Appendix II.
If necessary, changes shall be made in the PLC software to correct faulty outputs.
Any changes will be agreed with Company representative as (if) required.

4.3 Check of controls

a) All actuated valves will be tested on proper operation by:
 Checking them while the unit runs its cycles
b) All hand valves will be tested on proper operation by:
 Manually opening and closing of the valves
c) Analogue instruments
 Analogue instruments will be tested by simulation (if simulation is applicable) during the FAT, displayed
values shall be in line with expected values.
d) All transmitters will be tested on proper operation by:
 Check reading after power on.
o Check of scale & ranges
e) Dew point analyser will be tested on proper operation by:
 Check reading after power on.
o Check of scale & ranges

5 Functional test
After all set points and alarms are tested, a complete functional test of the Adsorption Dryer Package will be performed
as per this document.
The alarms and controls will be tested and documented according appendix I.
Test certificate will be filled-in and signed by Atlas Copco and customer’s inspection representative according appendix II.
Deviations / punch list item, if applicable, will be documented in the project punch list.

6 Pressure – leakage test

All pressure measures shall be read on a calibrated pressure gauge.
When the Dryer is finally assembled and safety equipment is installed, the Dryer must be pressure tested, inlet valves
shall be manually forced to open position and test flanges must be installed.
Test A and B will always be applicable unless soap water is not allowed then Test B will be applicable.
A Leak test 0.5 Bar.
Pressure is built up to 0.5 Bar and soap water is spayed on all assemblies to prove tightness
Tightness is signed with OK.
B Leak test 7 Bar.
Pressure must be built up to 8 Bar.
Spray soap water on all assemblies and tightness must be proved after 30 minutes.
Pressure must be read and noted after 30 minutes and signed with OK.
C Alternatively pressure must be held for 8 Hours if soap water is not allowed to use.
Pressure must be read and noted after 8 Hours and signed with OK.
After all set points and alarms are tested, a complete functional test of the Adsorption Dryer Package will be performed
as per this document.
