This correspondence is in regard to Kelsey Ehmann, a University of Arizona Bachelor of Science nursing
student graduating with honors in May 2024. I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for
Kelsey, an exceptional applicant seeking a position in a New Graduate Registered Nurse Residency
Program. I had the pleasure to work with Kelsey during the spring 2023 semester as she was a clinical and
didactic student in NURS 366 “Acute and Chronic Illness Management 1”. I have been impressed with
Kelsey’s leadership skills, clinical skills, and motivation to succeed at the next level.
Ms. Ehmann demonstrated professionalism, competency, accountability, and leadership during the
pediatric clinical rotation at Tucson Medical Center. Kelsey was eager to learn as much as possible from
all disciplines. Kelsey was assertive, not afraid to ask questions, and receptive to faculty feedback. Ms.
Ehmann assisted with care for high acuity infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric
Emergency department as well as with infants and children in the Pediatric medical -surgical unit. Kelsey
was engaged in all environments although extremely passionate when working with high acuity infants
and children. Safety was a priority during medication administration. Kelsey was prepared prior to
administering po, IVPB, and syringe pump medications. Kelsey invited peers to observe in the medication
room while safely calculating and drawing up medications. Furthermore, Kelsey developed immediate
relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare providers while providing wholistic
and evidence-based care to patients in the pediatric units. Ms. Ehmann required minimal assistance from
faculty as Kelsey’s ability to prioritize and critically think developed immensely during the 188-hour
preceptorship in the Post Critical Care Unit at Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Tucson, Arizona.
In addition to strong clinical skills Ms. Ehmann demonstrated a distinguished level of service and
leadership to others. As the Shift Lead Childcare Attendant at Mountain Fitness, Kelsey strengthened
interpersonal communication skills by leading and monitoring other employees as well as children. Ms.
Ehmann is an advocate for best patient outcomes. Ms. Ehmann has proven that she can multi-task, while
succeeding academically in the highly competitive, rigorous nursing program at the University of
Arizona.
The University of Arizona, College of Nursing has prepared Kelsey with a strong work ethic to succeed in
a challenging environment and learn at the next level. Kelsey indicates a strong passion to serve others
and is ready for the challenge. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Kelsey Ehmann for the New
Graduate Registered Nurse Residency Program. Please feel free to contact me for additional information
if needed.
Sincerely Yours,
