Part 1
Building Regulations:
According to Rics (2017), the total Gross floor area in the UK is measured from the internal face of
the perimeter walls at each floor level, therefore areas occupied by internal walls and partitions. The
gross floor area used in this project 145 m2.
Ventilation
Building Regulations 39 – Windows designed will need to ensure that the house/ building
will be adequate amount of ventilations at all times for resident building(Polley, 2012)
Regulation M4- internal doors to facilitate access into habitable rooms so the size of the
internal door is 910 x 2110 mm (The Building Regulations, 2010).

Part 2
Embodied Energy and CO2
Step 1: Revit file and exported MS Excel generates material volume
Step 2: Embodied Energy (EE intensity (MJ/KG) and EC emissions (EC) data obtained from Bath ICE
spreadsheet.Material Density obtained from Cibse Journal.
Step 3:Timeliner of Simulated house :Open the DWF file and click on Timeliner.

Both Revit and Navisworks are software products developed by Autodesk for improving
productivity of AEC professionals. Comment [O7]: and so what?
According to Davis (2011), Revit can quantify only revit program-based, but Naviswork can
quantify more than 50 types of file formats and combine it in to a model. Naviswork also can
perform model takeoffs including 3D and 2D takeoffs and is also capable of doing virtual
takeoffs (matter that does not exists in the model or 2D plan).
Revit advances from a program been in Autodesk around 16 years, and Naviswork more
recent and has been around only about 10 years. Navisworks can use useful formulas to Comment [O8]: Obvious !
quantify like takeoff of a 2x4 stud wall with 1 layer gyp on both sides.
According to BIM articles (2017), Navisworks is capable of managing and developed with
purpose of assisting architects, engineers and modelers to recognize design faults within the
models in Revit and effectively carry out check for errors. Naviswork is mainly for identifying
reviewing and evaluating projects.
