    MECHANICAL DRAWING

    Fundamentals
     Mechanical drawing is communication method of mechanical
    engineers.

     Many types of mechanical drawings have been developed for


    different purposes.

     Popular drawing types are used in mechanical engineering field:


     Schematic drawing
     Exploded view drawing
     Assembly/structure drawing
     Detail/part drawing
    Schematic drawing
    Principle scheme

    Hydraulic scheme

    Kinematic
    scheme

    Electric scheme
    Exploded view drawing

    Service manual Patent


    Assembly drawing
    Detailed drawing
    Requirements of assembly drawing
    DIMENSION
     Details of parts are not required; assembly structures need to be
    clearly shown.
     Some cutting planes are needed for dimensioning, dimensions
    should not be written inside projection/section views.
     There are 3 main dimension types in assembly drawing:
     Overall dimension: represents the space that the assembly
    structure requires (maximum Length × Width × Heigh), these
    dimensions are approximated without tolerances.
     Center distance: represents the distance of motion transmitting,
    may be with or without tolerance.
    *Tolerance zone of center distance of spur/helical gear drive is H7.
     Assembly dimension: consists of the basic size and tolerance.
    Requirements of assembly drawing
    PART NUMBERING
     Used to define name, material, quantity, symbol of a parts in a
    parts list above the title block.
    Text size is 2 ÷ 2,5 times
    of dimension number

    1,5 ÷ 2,5 mm intersected

     Part numbering follows clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.


    Requirements of assembly drawing
    PARTS LIST
     Clarify information of the item that is numbered in the drawing.
     Part numbers are listed from the bottom to the top of parts list.
     Including: Part number, name of item, quantity, material, symbol
    and notices (about standard, origin, …).
     Help engineers estimating the weight and cost of entire product.

    DIMENSION
     Must be enough for readers can model or fabricate the part.
     All assembly dimensions must go with specific tolerance values.
    Example:
    Ø30H8 (on assembly drawing) = Ø30+0,08 (on detailed drawing ).

    SURFACE ROUGHNESS
     Selected based on operating conditions and manufacturing accuracy.
     Need to be rotated to fit with the targeted surface.

     Symbols:

     Rz: for rough or semi-finished surfaces; Ra: for finished surfaces.

    MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
     Normally written at the technical requirements of the drawing.
